Looking back, there is no feeling in the world like approaching the LZ in a chopper, swaying back and forth tracking through the valleys above the tree line, as you ready your mind to go down the zip line. You have checked and double checked your mags, your cammo, and your gear. There has been nothing but silence besides the the humm and mad vibration of the rotor head above. The 40 minute ride feels like 4 hours. Everybody knows the plan and knows their job. There is simply nothing left to say, so no words are offered, nor do any eyes meet, just total focus. Finally, the bird pitches back, the tree tops come into view out the side windows, the gate opens, and a lone voice breaks the silence with a subdued utterance........"let's go boys"




In my head, I know this is just a game today, November 28th, 2015. But my head can't convince my heart it is so. Time to turn the YELLOW JACKETS loose!
