Every time this comes up we never dig into the reasons for this. According to the article it’s transportation, lodging, and food plus the value of school owned or loaned vehicles.

We have to be one of the cheapest schools to travel to, most of our visitors were from driving distance, and we didn’t actually have that many OVs.

I don’t think this number indicates what everyone thinks it does.

As I said, some schools have to travel a long distance to get to good talent and vice versa. GT isn’t one of those. We are lucky. Now, getting that talented admitted...that’s another issue.

Travel is a big expense. So is staff. And we all know how understaffed we are and have been for many years.

If staff doesn’t matter can’t we cut some expenses by getting rid of the staff we do have? What’s the nickname of that tech social media guy? Morpheus? Ya get rid of him. We don’t need his services....we are in the middle of a humongous transportation hub.

So in 2018 we spent half the recruiting budget we did in 2013? According to the below link we were top 5 in recruiting spending at one point. And I remember that being the case. Now we are 40 percent of that while everyone else has gone up? Someone is wrong somewhere here. I remember our recruiting budget a year or two ago being good. Not uga or bama but near a million plus.

So some people still don't think size matters? :p

According to the article staff is not included in this figure. It’s transportation, meals, and lodging.

Many can dismiss this statistic but the harsh reality is it’s nearly impossible to compete with vastly disparate resources. Not impossible, nearly impossible. If you were running a business this way in order to survive, much less thrive, you had better be a genius with incredible technical and operational skill coupled with a golden touch.
