So I saw the clip and while at face value it looks bad, I have my doubts it is what it appears. He’s was looking at a tablet - which I know they use to review plays. What I couldn’t tell is whether the offense or defense was on the field. If it was the offense, then a DC reviewing the previous series would make sense. If it was the defense on the field then I can’t see any excuse not to watching the action

The background has the PA announcement of Sims with an incomplete pass.

You know after rewatching the clip, I think he was looking at a play sheet. It was definitely NOT an electronic device

Electronic devices of any kind other than headsets and the hotline phone to the coaches booth are illegal in CFB.

I don't see why people are making a big deal out of this. It's 42-0 and he's going over a call sheet. Whose body language is going to be enthusiastic at this point?

Not defending him - he should've been canned last year, but let's stop finding every little thing to needle the staff with.

Some salt for the wounds...

From The Atlanta Journal Constitution: 5 takeaways from Georgia Tech's loss to No. 20 Ole Miss.

"Tech gave up 42 points (the 14th 40-point game of Collins’ 37-game tenure, all losses), 31 first downs (one every 2.6 plays) and 547 yards to Ole Miss. They attempted 19 passes and ran 62 times."

I am sure most of you guys have seen the clip of Thacker during the game just completely checked out. Why is that allowed? Is that not cause to be let go?

Not when you’re best buddies with the head coach apparently. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Can somebody please explain why this is a bad video? I have never seen one coach talk to the unit the whole time on the sideline. By no means am I trying to defend his performance or his role on the team, but this is absolute nothing. It’s a coach who is done going over what just happened, looking at his sheet, getting information from the booth, and walking away

Yep. Full on witch hunt mode at this point. He’s performed so poorly that simply breathing will cause him to piss people off.

Time for a change, but it would be nice for everyone to realize that these are still human beings and sweeping judgements on their value as a person aren’t warranted based on their failure to perform a (very hard) job well.

Lol that anyone cares about assistants and coordinators while Collins is still here.
Indeed, and I was one of them. I thought the new assistants might be able to turn things around, but the folly of that thinking has been laid bare.

I don't have anything against any of them personally, but they just can't coach football.

To be fair, Thacker wasn't a new assistant. I still think Long can fix the offense given time, but the OL under Key is killing him.
Agree about Key. He's been a disaster, probably the worst of the assistant coaches. No, Thacker wasn't new, but he had some new assistants under him.

This is the opposite of a leader. I would not give an ounce of effort for a coach like this. No wonder our guys look like they don't give a ****. Don't care what anyone says about 'downtime' during a game. If you've played football you know that this isn't how a coach should ever present himself during a game. Complete apathy.

Just like a lot of engineers I knew over the years. They know the vocabulary and sound knowledgeable in meetings but couldn't figure out how to use even a simple multimeter in the lab. Pretty good a PowerPoint though.
