I just wanna see a massive culture change on that side of the ball with attitude and swag. Let's be hyper aggressive and get after people. And let them know about it afterwards. I wanna punk people and intimidate offenses if I'm being honest.

You want us to be the 1991 Miami Hurricanes, leading the nation in Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties?

You want us to stand over guys and give 'em a D-Generation X salute after a SportsCenter-worthy hit on a 21-yard completion?

You want us to start pre-game brawls in the tunnel with the other team?

I do.

(as long as we're good enough to bail ourselves out of mistakes! But I don't think we're there, yet).

BTW, I still haven't forgiven you for beating Derek in that walk-off.

Year before Collins:

PPD:
2012 MSU - 1.9 41st
2014 Florida - 1.51 12th
2016 Temple - 1.69 21st - 2017 Temple - 2.5 55th (2017 first year under Collins)

DFEI:
2012 MSU - 47th
2014 Florida - 5th
2016 Temple - 19th

YPP:
2012 MSU - 56th
2014 Florida - 5th
2016 Temple - 6th

**I think Collins was on staff at MSU in 2012. I'm guessing @Ibeeballin started with 2012 to signify Collins' first year as DC.

What I really like in the highlights is the leverage that they get. Guys swarm to the ball, but neither are they taking shots and whiffing nor are they letting guys get upfield on them while keeping contain.

Key word is “highlights”...they aren’t gonna show the plays where a guy whiffed on a big hit attempt or let a QB break contain or anything.

You and Milwaukee know that none of this stuff matters after the first hit, right? Especially if the other side's O is performing well.

What counts is how you play and that is a matter of physical commitment and performing your assignments. Everything else is gone after your first tackle.

I get it.

But the first hit better be this:

This is another one of those Cheerio-pissin, argument wannabe starting, bring everyone down to negativity and no hype at all costs posts, but I'm not in the mood to engage in depth tonight. I think you're well aware that we're referring to the fact that we wanna see energy and intimidation...without abandoning the concept of the sport of football while just running around the field like a bunch of Banshee Indians trying to clothesline every player in sight. You know that already, so why the post?

Looks like he had an improved D at Ms St year to year. Looks like he inherited a pretty talented D at UF and they played at a high level for him.

Oh, God above in Heaven.

Actually, since I'm not a mind reader, I did not know that. And, if I had, my question would have been: Why are you guys acting like a couple of chest-beating high school kids? I mean, seriously, did you ever play football, at any level? If so, you would know just how juvenile this kind of blowhard-ism is. If what you wanted to see was energy - intimidation doesn't work, especially after the rule changes - then you should have said it.

The rest of the thread is pretty straightforward: an analysis of what Coach accomplished in his previous jobs. And it is pretty informative. I'd stick to that; we might learn something (I did).

And, yes, it would be nice if we could find someone like Clowney who would come to Tech.

This is for Milwaukee:

I apologize for the tone and content of my last post. It is perfectly OK for you to want to see more enthusiasm on D. I want to see that myself and, given that Coach is a D specialist, I expect to. I shouldn't have come down on you like I did. Chances are you are right about what we need and I'm wrong.

Damnit you yelled at me! ;)

Man I don't take anything personally, you're allowed to come down on me...hell I deserve it a lot of the time. Cheers mate.

Anybody take the time to research the ratings on these 2 teams? I haven't done so yet, but that's part of the equation too. Coaching, scheme, and types of players you have.

Recruiting ratings?

Lemme complete my honey-do list, and I’ll look it up

No! I said that wrong, I am happy to do that work myself. You’ve done enough work so far, LOL. I just didn’t know if it had already been done.

I want to see better linebacker play from both player development and talent wise. I am not an expert but from what I have seen, the LB play has made me question if we were properly coached. Bad first steps as mentioned earlier were way to often, but I guess a coach can only do so much. I also would like to see a little more size on the DL and Adams would have helped that. Look forward to seeing Tre Swilling play who I think is outstanding and a group of safeties who appear to be quite talented.

Ok another question and I know the right answer is all of them, but in his defense which group the most critical , DL, LB, CB, or S ?
I would say CB. If they can shut down the receivers in press then it gives the DL more time to get to the QB and the LBs have less space to cover.
