Despite this bad news (for both the players & the team), I still have high hopes for this offensive line.

Center (A+). Burden and Marshall have center locked-down and 1 of the 2 conceivably could start or rotate in at guard.

RG (#1 concern) Shamire needs to play. Even if it's a platoon where he's taking 60-70% of the snaps, he needs to dominate at right guard.

Third Guard (#2 Concern) Who is the third Guard? Marshall? One of the Morgans? I think this position is almost more important than the starting tackle.

LG (A). I think this forces us to bump Will Bryan to left guard permanently. I think that's where he's more valuable anyway. Bryan-Burden-Devine could be as dominant of G-C-G as we've seen (with all due love to my man Shaq)

RT (A) Klock will hopefully man every snap at RT - I think he's a perfect fit. IDK anything about Stickler.

LT (??) I'll project a Froyman & Braun at LT. I have high hopes for Braun - I think his film is the same caliber as Will Bryan's, albeit not the same type of player. That said, Will Bryan had a 6 month head start enrolling early. I'd be pleased if Braun could match Bryan's freshman year performance, but that's asking a lot. Haven't seen Froyman play. Anyone familiar with what he brings?

Grad Transfers? Defensive Line switches? Are we about to be down to 10 offensive linemen or is my math wrong? any chance at a grad transfer? Who do we convert to OLine if desperate? Kallon? Kyle Henderson? Trent Sellers?

Long Term - I love Kenny Cooper, but I don't see him contributing until he's a RS SO

Jahaziel Lee is also coming in at OL, probably OT, and a preferred walk on, probably Chet LaGod, and Scott Morgan was moved over from DL

Really hate it for both these guys, I was excited to see what Griffin could bring to guard. Brown leaving the team is hurting us even more now, he would be almost a lock to see significant reps this year.

Goes to show you can do everything right with recruiting and still be on the losing end of attrition. I can understand CPJ's disappointment in Gary Brown trying to pursue an art career, especially when we are this thin. Parker Braun may wind up a very important back up as True Fr. Kenny Cooper will RS I would imagine. Both the Morgans could move up the learning curve very quickly. That's 4 plus Will Bryan, so building starters, depth and quality quickly. The '17 class will have to be heavy in O linemen and a number of good offers are out. It will all play out and the ones who can raise their game will be in the mix for quality playing time quickly. I'd love to RS every lineman on both sides of the ball but for most schools that's almost impossible to do.

Wow, hate that news. I thought Chris Griffin was going to be a very special player, a 3 year starter with all conference potential. Now it looks like he may never see the field again. Tough break for him and for everyone associated with GT football. Whitley I never had a feel for. Sounds like he is done.

I know no surgery is ever a given as far as success (my dad was fond of saying the operation was a success but the patient died anyway - then he goes in to get a cancerous lesion removed from his liver, gets it done, and died 6 weeks later having never gone home from the hospital) but in this day and age of ACL surgeries, how does one "not go well"? WTH went wrong?

The silver lining is these guys are at Georgia Tech. If your football career is going to be over, you want to be at Georgia Tech. If these guys can't play I hope they just redirect their energy to the classroom and don't look back. Get that degree, and have a fantastic professional career, and make a mark on the world.

Can't agree more. Unfortunately, this message falls on deaf ears all too often for most blue chip recruits. They have the "it'll never happen to me" syndrome.

The 40 yr plan. They have to be smart enough in the first place to recognize it's incredible value.

We've come to think of these knee surgeries as similar to getting a tooth removed, when in fact, is it's still a major surgery and these guys are top end athletes. If the average guy doesn't fully recover from a knee surgery, it probably doesn't affect their everyday life, if an athlete doesn't make a full recovery, he's done playing.

The most sickening part of it all is that the injury came from a random game of basketball...
