Begins Monday, 3/13. Time to get the "toughness" in gear.

".. three practices the first week (March 13, March 15 and March 17), take a week off for spring break and then have four practices a week through the spring game on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday schedule...."

Georgia Tech spring practice, Pro Day dates announced

Georgia Tech will begin spring practice Monday, the first of 15 on-field sessions that will conclude with the spring game April 15. Pro day, where former Jackets will perform for NFL scouts, will be held May 16.

Without getting slammed for copyright infringement, let me try to summarize the main inference of the theme(some of it is what I was told by a Tech source about the upcoming practices, also). Much will be revealed tomorrow when they start up the offensive & defensive schemes. CBK has a pretty good idea of what he wants to see on the offensive side of the ball. He knows what each member of the staff does well. Wants to build from ground up in all three phases, which includes ST. Doesn’t want to copy what every other school is doing. Desires flexibility and playing to the strength of his roster. Has a general idea of who is playmakers are going to be, and how to utilize them most effectively. Got to be able to play fast or slow, huddle, no huddle. Excited for Pyron, who is full go. Weinke works well with Zach. Doesn’t have a pecking order of the QB’s, yet.
On defense, there will be some carryover from what we did last year under Thacker. Loves Marco Coleman and his passion. He’s grown as a coach.
Discipline and toughness are keys for Key. He spoke in the article about how he’s ready to go each morning waking up as a HC. A little paraphrasing.

Key both didn’t say very much, but did say that all the coaches were picked with a plan in mind, and they fit together based on what they’ve already done for offense, defense, or special teams.

Short version (at least by what’s implied): Key’s been thinking about the coaching staff he wanted for years, and the schemes, and the staff to do it, and he had a plan A and a plan B for each coaching position, and he brought in people he’d been wanting to hire for a while.

Anybody interested in convincing recruits that there’s a new era of Tech football in queue, please make an effort to attend the spring game!

There will be generations of recruits there ready to see what kind of hype Key brings. Grab a tech beer and let’s fill the lower bowl more than a CGC ACC game
