Part of the reason GT monitors attendance so heavily in the South EZ is that ingress/egress is heavily choked. One point of access that is shared with 129-132 and the gate entry plaza is also shared with the Upper East. I doubt they can oversell or just open the floodgates into the South without getting into trouble with fire codes.

The answer is those shouldn't be general admission-style student tickets in the first place, but rather assigned seats. Sell them as such and shove the rest of the students in 221-223 so those are at least full and they're at least close to the band.

Maybe in the new stadium renovation they can add some sort of access point on the SW side along the Wardlaw Center, that way they can actually get students in/out.
Some students will be sitting in 221 and 222 for homecoming this weekend, since they claimed all of the upper north tickets in one day.

Either way, the school / AD should recognize that having empty seats (south end zone or even upper deck) is not a good look on TV. If we can't fill the seats all while having one of the best seasons in decades, that's an issue that needs to be figured out .

Yeah, GT doesn't have a ton of sidewalk fans , but as the program gets better we need to see butts in seats.

If the south endzone can't fill up , then we need to
A) Open to faculty or the public
B) convert that space to a lawn or beer garden .

They would be if they were smart! All the experts are here 🤓
They're at least proactively opening more sections for students for homecoming instead of saying it's sold out and begging a booster to buy more tix for students like against clemson.

But my real questions haven't been addressed. When did this change occur and why?

Back in the day, students were sitting in primo seats in the east stands next to flash cards and the band. Now, they've been banished to the endzones.

Are we really selling so many tickets to alumni and street fans that we can't give the kids some decent seats?

I don’t know when the change happened but we just sold the UGA game to Mercedes Benz for $10m. I don’t think we are in a spot financially to give away the club section seats for free to students.

Seniors and grad students were in the upper east back in the day.

Seniors sat in upper east around the 40 to 50. Very good seats. Grad students were one block over toward the EZ. Still very good seats. This was before the upper north expansion. I was a senior in 1972. Grad student in 1973. Its very steep up there but great place to watch games.

We need another band to stick down there. Will drown out the visiting teams band and the two GT bands could play back and forth with each other. Have the largest band in college football. North endzone could be white band and South endzone could be gold band. Might get more students sitting around them. Kick most or all of the opposing fans to the upper southeast where the Clemson band sat.

Or

Offer those seats in season ticket packages to proven rowdy drunkards such as myself. BAC checks between quarters to ensure you can still stay in the section.
I’ll see ya there!

There is a wait list for east club season tickets and they don't sell single game tickets.

The image is resale ticket price, OP picked a really expensive one.
I just posted what I thought was a totally crazy listing...I did not say anything bad about club seating. And I never implied all tickets were this price.

Some of the second-hand prices for the NBA Finals last year when the Knicks were on the verge of making it were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’m talking about 6 figure ticket prices. Now that obviously doesn’t mean they are going to find a buyer, but this screenshot reminded me of that.

I sent this email to Alpert this is just my 2 cents on the seating.

Dear Mr. Alpert,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a few thoughts regarding potential seating adjustments at Bobby Dodd Stadium that I believe could enhance both the in-stadium experience and the way the stadium presents on television.

First, I’d suggest consolidating the student section to one side of the field instead of having it spread out across multiple areas. Having the student body together would not only increase energy and atmosphere inside the stadium, but it would also create a more unified and impactful visual presence for televised games.

Second, regarding the gold chair-back seats, it may be worth considering a reconfiguration of that area. While those seats are valuable, many of their season ticket holders tend to resell, and visually, the empty patches can stand out on broadcasts. Adjusting this section could help create a more consistent and appealing look.

Lastly, I believe expanding chair-back seating to approximately 50% of the stadium could be a strong move. While this would reduce overall capacity, it would simultaneously elevate the premium experience for fans, creating an enhanced revenue stream while ensuring a more comfortable viewing option for a larger portion of the fanbase.

Thank you for everything you are currently doing to strengthen Georgia Tech Athletics and for your continued leadership. I appreciate your consideration of these ideas and your commitment to making Bobby Dodd one of the premier college football venues in the country.

They are already putting chairbacks throughout almost the entire stadium as part of the $500m stadium renovation Batt started.

Nothing here really covers improving the topic of the thread, which is the south end zone.

Consolidating the student section (presumably to the north end zone and adjacent sections) and opening the chair back seats in the south end zone to the general public would solve this issue.
