This was the south end zone just before SU kicked their field goal in the first quarter. It go only slightly better as the game went on.

Ok, there's what appears to be a single female sitting all by herself all the way to the right. Kinda sad someone coudn't find anyone to go with them. Maybe she's a scout?

I saw this on Reddit, posted by the Goldfellas. Looks like it's a season tickets vs. single game tickets situation.

Just made an account for the Goldfellas to respond to this, thank you for sharing our post here!

Adding some more clarifications, the south endzone are not sectioned off within it, so the entire south endzone are the season ticket section rather than 132, 133, ..., 136 being separate sections. As the only entrance to the south endzone is on the east side, the stands are populated accordingly from the center, then east, and finally west last. While initially the east (right) section was barren, it slowly populated over the game with this being taken in the middle of the 4th.

Sorry for the bad quality, this was a screenshot from a Instagram story.

TLDR: the entire south endzone is sectioned off as one large season ticket section, and with the entrance on the east side, the west side would be the last populated.

Are people packed more densely in the middle than the official number of “seats” would prescribe? Wondering how close to “full capacity” that fourth quarter pic is.

Make this section for recent grads and discount the price. I know I sat there quite a few times as a mid 20 something with a buzz card. I think my friend group always knew someone in grad school and they would get us tickets.

I think it is more like they are packing in the north stands. I was watching the Frat sections when they were cheering for Homecoming Royalty and you could tell in some of those sections there was no way those were standard capacity. So the students who couldn't get into those sections probably bought in the South End and "found their way" over to the section they want to sit in. Couple that with students who can't attend that day...projects due, upcoming tests, fatigue, other commitments...and there is your problem.

The other issue is that those sections are a waste land for amenities. The closest concession is 132 and the next is SE Entrance. Those sections are just not good seats. If they could maybe provide a way to access the ramps east of Wardlaw that might help. Beer garden idea is good. Bussing in 100s of area school kids like they've done for women's basketball would be great (good for future fans-in-the-making too). They don't know what is going on, but they are loud :).

You could also do what volleyball has done in the past. Let any student in with a Buzz Card if the student scan in numbers have not hit their quota by 10 min before kickoff (they usually just visually inspect the open spots). You'll still have an issue with policing it to make sure they go to the South End though.

My tickets are in 210 (lower NW corner) and i can definitely attest to the students coming into the North area and just.getting in empty seats that aren’t theirs. I don’t want to sound like a grumpy old man here but they kinda drive me crazy, can’t stay anywhere for 5 minutes, constantly on the move and standing in the way looking for friends or empty seats

I honestly think the solution is even easier than that. You have a ton of single game ticket students on the upper north deck who would gladly fill up the south endzone. Literally just reallocating 135 and 136 away from season ticket holders would solve the situation. If theyre worried about away fans or alumni buying student tickets and taking the spot, have them check buzzcards instead of wristbands. I just disagree with how they would rather let those spots remain empty than let current students sit there. They are also a ton lighter on the amenities side too (broke college students with free tickets aren't going to need much concessions).

bro, they (students) buy beers 4 at a time….one of the reasons they can’t stay still- beer runs and bathroom trips lol

I’ve always thought those seats on the far right of the south end zone should be made into a tiny visitor section. I like to see anything other than empty seats there.

Endzones should be 100% Tech fans, I don't want visitors having any shot of yelling at our guys in the endzone. I think they should be split into 4 small groups and forced into the corners of the UN and the south ends of the UE and UW, instead of the whole corner of the SE we give them now.

I think we should have a few guys start the Oregon State shirts off waving over their heads in the South End Zone. Obviously it will have to wait until next year but it has brought people to whatever section it has been done in at many stadiums across the country this year. Just an idea.
