Wow! Not sure if that’s real or fake news, but those terms are almost embarrassing for whoever is paying him. Heck, it’s even almost embarrassing for the player. A personal driver and Cadillac suv? I would be embarrassed to admit that I was that self righteous and petty. Not to get off topic, but this snowflake consumerist culture that we live in is almost truly unbelievable.

I dunno. Folks who live and work in Athens would be relieved to know there was a “personal driver” clause in every (u)GA athlete’s NIL deal.

Restrepo is gonna be a third rounder this year. There’s nothing he can do to improve that, unless he grows a lot taller. He’s a fool if he doesn’t go pro this year.

There are certain players that we have played against in various sports that seem like they have been there forever. Hunter Renfro seemed like he was at Clemson for 8 years. Chris Corchiani (sp?) was at NCSU for a decade minimum iirc. Restrepo seems like he was at the U when Chan was our coach. But I could be mistaken of course.

ES is a weapon, but he’s not in Restrepo’s category. I cannot think of a reason ES wants to be elsewhere except money. HK is healthy again and AF is his backup. Both can sling the ball. Shrug… all about the benjies.

GT is not for everyone. Money is clearly a factor for many Portal transfers.

I am not a fan of UNC and mostly cheer against them (except when they play Duke). That said, Bacot is a guy I admire. He played at UNC for five seasons (4 + a COVID year). He graduated with a double major. He was exactly what most us want in a college athlete.

Yeah, as much as it hurts seeing him leave, $1M is a lot of money. It’s enough that even if he doesn’t make the pros, he could go back and get another degree on his own dime if he feels like it’s what he needs. That’s one aspect of NIL that I hadn’t considered: it lessens the value of the opportunity for these players to get a degree from a good school.

True as the NFL minimum for a first year player is only $795,000!

He did graduate from A&M in three years. His last season he was the starter, then he wasn’t then he was again and then he wasn’t. It was clear he wasn’t going to get the starting job the following year, and then Jimbo got fired also.
