Your making two assumptions that I don't think are true.

1. You assume the top 10 NIL schools can/will pay more for their 25th best player than a school like Tech can pay for their best player. They'll have more money, but not THAT much more money.

2. You assume guardrails won't be added / the system won't change. I expect players to end up considered as employees, with multi-year contracts, buyouts, etc.
Singleton wasn't the best receiver on the team let alone best player. Way too much attentio. is being given to guy quitting the team.

He was our most productive receiver and our most physically gifted receiver...not sure what else you're looking for.

And he didn't quit on the team - he's simply moving to what he feels is a better opportunity. More money, more eyeballs, better competition, etc. It's extremely shortsighted to call it "quitting the team", especially when none of us know what's going on with his personal life.

This - I put myself in his shoes at that age (not even knowing his personal situation) and would be doing the same exact thing..

Being a farm team is was slowly being recognized by us a couple of years ago and its non appeal is beginning to take hold on what was our strong fandom and next, our wallets. Sad times ahead for some if something is not done about it real soon.
I was very high on singleton last year but I’ve come to realize his relative value. I too suspect that we won’t end up missing him as there are others that will pick up the slack with comparable talent. And remembering that he wasn’t all that desired as a HS senior.

It’s the whole new nature of college football that I lament. I’ve emotionally invested in a version of GT football for decades that is slowly losing its attractiveness.

Yeah people taking this stuff too personally. Folks gotta stop pretending they wouldn't explore options when presented. Heck, as adults, we'd be fools not to.
Oh I totally would have taken the money. So yeah, no one should get their panties in a wad over it. But also, let’s call it like it is - he had what, three less receptions and 80 more yards receiving than Malik? He’s not worth the kind of money to us that he’s asking for (and honestly probably not worth that much money to these other teams either, but their mismanagement is their own problem, not ours).

I walk into my boss's office hey I'm leaving for better money thanks for the memories. I just quit that boss. Where is the difference? Better competition is reach and is that a joke? You may not like it but that doesn't make it any less real. There isn't any other way to say it every player that transfers is quitting on a program. Just like you don't like the term quitting I don't like the term he was our best. Read the definition of quit and explain how it's not the same as what every portal entry is doing.? Reasons don't change the name of the action.

All of us would take the money. Anyone acting butthurt about it is living in the past. I don't like losing players either, but we have also benefitted tremendously from transfers (Haynes King, Keion White, JVDB, etc).

I agree that Singleton likely isn't worth the 2mil/yr that has been floated on social media - at least not to GT at this point. But it's hard to really use this seasons stats as a good barometer of what he could produce - our starting QB couldn't throw for nearly half of the season, our second string QB came in and got banged up forcing us to use a true freshman for 1.25 games. That certainly hampered ESJ's numbers, so it's not as simple as pulling the stat sheet up as justification of why we won't miss him. We absolutely will miss him - IIWII.

That said, I do believe Buster can find ways to score points without him. But having that ever present deep threat is an amazing tool that opens things up for the entire offense. It's likely a luxury that doesn't make good sense for us at this point in the rebuild.

Sure. His ceiling could be higher…especially if he starts actually catching the ball when he’s open downfield - but I haven’t seen anything that makes me think that’s magically going to happen at Auburn or Ole Miss - with a QB that’s likely not as accurate.

Ole Miss could probably utilize his skill set best based on what they do. Just gotta get him the ball close to the LOS and let him do what he does best - be faster than everyone else.

To be fair, it could be worse. He could have been in the uGA receiving corps. Those guys still haven’t caught COVID

The Program is bigger than one player.

The portal is a give and take. The key is to achieve an overall net positive gain in talent from the portal.

Singleton was a threat to take the top off a defense and kept the safeties deep. Possession receivers do not do that.

On the other hand, Singleton was not a polished player and made a lot of mistakes.

I see two distinct fan attitudes towards guys who transfer out:

1. Once a Jacket, always a Jacket
2. A player is either with us or against us.

I think either attitude is okay. I see no obligation for fans to keep exiting players in any esteem whatsoever.

Using the hate word is so juvenile and intellectually lazy. Disagreement is how called “hate”.
I think the word “hate” is modernly used referring to any criticism given. (Rather than any specific degree)

I like mint chocolate chip ice cream. Some people in here will be “hatin’” on that.
