Little silver lining….
With all of the roster churn that everyone experiences, it will be even more difficult to determine what teams will be the following year. I’d like to think the media / publications would realize that and use it as the catalyst to move completely away from stupid preseason rankings… but…. I will settle for knowing that preseason rankings are going to start to look even more wildly wrong / ridiculous in coming seasons. FSU was the point and laugh team this year. Indiana and Arizona State were completely unexpected upstarts. There will be more of both next year. A lot more.

What game was he difference maker in? What game did Tech win or lose because of him? Did he contribute yes. Can his #'s come from Cannon or Bailey or someone else next year? Yes, Key is building a team of players that buy into team. If a player wants to be a hired gun, fine go find it. Just like Tech will find it's own gun fighters. Singleton will not be missed sorry I don't value WR's as big time gets or losses. They are a dime a dozen. Losing key OL or DL would be more harmful. That's what worries me.

He is a good and valuable football player and a significant contributor to GT's offense. Losing players of his ability hurt. Losing such players are not end of the world situations. Hopefully we already have a solid replacement on the team. The Bowl Game should be an indicator is such a player is already on hand.

This is why all Colleges need people in the Athletic Department who have experience in Professional Sports Front Offices. Someone needs to be able to analyze how much both each position and each player at that position are worth.

The Pro Sports have Salary Caps (Baseball has a Luxury Tax) that limit how much a team can pay for their roster. That requires values being placed on positions regarding how much of the Limited Cap dollars go to a WR vs Center vs LB. This is very new territory for College Sports. A School's NIL pot is a de facto Salary Cap!

Head Coaches should have significant input on money and players but they should not be the person dealing with the Player or the Player's Agent on the specifics of a contract.

I would think Kirby is not under any pressure at all...they play like crap and still win. Recruits are running over each other to sign there. Embarrassment of riches

He hasn't been able to recruit that dominant 5 star WR recruit like he has at other positions, and he hasn't been able to convince a dominant portal WR to come to UGA.

Is Kirby going to get fired for it? Obviously not...but he's getting a lot of criticism because their offense has been lacking a true "blow the top off the defense WR" like other elite schools in UGA's tier have been able to.

I think if Singleton wants to go to the NFL ASAP, he won't find a better situation than what he has here. He'll have a fully healthy King back, in an offense that's going to probably make him the centerpiece of our passing game, and he'll know our playbook inside out. The chemistry he'll have with King, who will be a top 5-10 QB in college football, won't be easily replicated anywhere else. Key and Faulkner have shown they are finding creative ways to put the ball in his hands.

If he transfers, he risks getting stuck behind WRs with established chemistry with their QBs. You saw a good example of this with Philo and Stockton...every QB has "their" WR they know and trust. Singleton will have to fight for that at other places. Also, he won't be as comfortable with their playbook and his development will be a work in progress in his "WR for hire" year at the next place.

I guess that's the calculus Singleton will have to figure out. The chance to be a feature WR with a QB he has chemistry with versus the unknown at another school that may set back his draft stock. He may make a few hundred thousand more at the other school, but he could be risking more than that with his NFL prospects.

I don’t want to spread simple rumors, but if that’s the case, I feel a little better about this. I trust Key. If he doesn’t think he’s worth it to keep him around for extra $$, I don’t either.

I don't think it is that simple. On an open market players will have a value. Not all players have the same value. Even the same player can have different values to different programs. If a player asks for more than what the staff has valued the player, the player will hit the open market and see if someone else values him more.

It is quite possible that our staff would pay more for Concepcion than Singleton.
