Sims on game day vs practice

Sims didn’t play well, but let’s calm down on blaming him for this mess. We could have run the ball on every play and averaged over five yards a carry and probably scored 35 points, but instead the staff tries to get cute. Throwing just to throw is stupid. Most coaches in America (high school, college, pro) would love to establish the run and not have to throw, but for some reason our staff is more concerned will establishing balance, when it’s not necessary. Infuriating.

Something everybody’s favorite whipping boy Mike Sewak said he learned from Bobby Dodd - make sure the first pass you call is one your QB can complete, even if it doesn’t gain much
There were a few of those in the first few series; at least one of his completions was a wide open play and a high-percentage pass.
