in other words, don't let this award become a hype train. That is not what it is.

At this point, I'd be happy with a hype go-cart.

But, alas, you are right - I mean, the award is obligatory - someone is going to win it as opposed to, for example, an all-conference tag which we were unceremoniously shut out from.

Now, having said that, I do have high hopes for the Morgans and am pleased to hear of their early success.

I think the Jabari hype train was created in various degrees by these things:

1. Scout team POY
2. Shaq Mason's comments "best DL I faced all year blah, blah, blah..."
3. Spring practice instagram clips of him breaking through the OL at will and sacking/distrupting offense
4. Byerly's "fear Jabari" tweets
5. Our overwhelming need for a savior at this position
6. His raw athleticism especially at his size
7. His positive attitude during his sit out year

Yeah, I agree with that above...my general conclusions below:

1. see my post about it not necessarily being purely about talent and potential
2. teammates love pumping up teammates
3. we all know why he was busting through our OL. They suck
4. see #2

6. for me was never sure about this but ok
7. eh not an on the field thing

So. Generally what u like in a DE is long arms. People say height but they say that cuz typically long arms come with height. Imo hunt was fine at dt. He had a boxy frame not lenky. But he just never had time in that spot his whole life. I posted this preseason. U cant expect much from a one year dt when his prior years were lb. not de. So for me it wasnt a shock. Hoping. But not shocked. That is such a physical leverage and physical technique spot u need so much reps and experience for him to play at the level we needed.
