It's just best not to say anything if you don't have anything nice to say....
Only thing is these agents are sharks just swimming to make a buck on the back of kids and whispering sweet nothing in there ears no matter if it's a long term good choice or not.... wouldn't be shocked if it's same Singleton Agents
All I can say for athletes who are running for the money now is I hope they don't repeat the Georgia Tech Sammy Drummer story, thinking that sports are their life and that a million dollars will last a lifetime, not realizing that a degree from Georgia Tech would. Sammy put sports ahead of everything, including getting a degree, not making the NBA, and wound up a janitor at age 35 and was killed in an alleged drug deal in Muncie, his home town.

Sports is just a part of life in their youth for most. Those who who do make it to the next level and make lots of money at it, often have unfulfilled lives when they reach the age of many of us now. My advice to today's student athletes is "meet your commitments to your college, coaches, and your game, and finish your degree and your mothers and grand kids will be proud. You are at the age of developing character and integrity that will be you the rest of your life." That was the advice of Homer Rice to thousands of athletes in his 97 years. These transferring athletes will not be major contributors to Georgia Tech as graduates and will be soon forgotten. I have very little respect for them unless they get their degree and then transfer to grad school if they want to play sports at the college level later. Georgia Tech made an investment in these athletes, and they did not do their part because of the lure of NIL and no-fault transfer. This is just my personal feelings on what sports and athletes have become.

We're less than a week from our bowl game & a guy portals out. If you're going to do it, do it, don't diddle around like you're still a team player then pull the rug out right before game day.
Especially for those playing games before the dead line. This year it is December 28th.
If they "cared" for their "brothers" they could have played next Friday, then hit the portal on Saturday.

Some have said that Malik may be planning on doing just that. Playing in the bowl game and then entering the portal. Personally I hope he stays through the bowl game and during that time the coaches convince him to stay for his final year. Hope isn't a strategy but it's what I've got ;)

If I'm the coach he doesn't get another snap in practice much less the Bowl game

Can't help.but think the coaches knew this was coming given that we already have taken 3 WR from the portal. In fact I was thinking Malik would be leaving given the two slot types we'd gotten.

Love Malik, am sad, also think we'll be just fine.

She needs to quit picking favorites, obviously!
The irony of this is that the players worth is based on fans watching and having player favorites. If the players keep moving aka transferring their value and thus the sports value goes down because fans can’t attach to them. Thus, long term it’s not in the sports or players’ best interest. We need more structure and real governing to this sport asap.

Honestly… losing both Malik and ESJ sucks and not to diminish that but this is very much starting to feel like arbitrage. Would not be surprised if this is JJ’s strategy as our new “GM”. Get cheap transfers at skill positions, spend the NIL money to keep King/Philo, and redistribute the cash to the lines.

Bingo. WRs are one of the easiest positions to develop production.

I'd take a Kyle Kennard back over a Ahmarean Brown/Nate McCollum/Malik Rutherford/Eric Singleton.

BTW...don't know if any GT fans have been paying attention, but we just got two REALLY good and highly productive WRs coming in.

Rutherford is a RS Sr with one year of eligibility. I could see him heading to Texas tech as well. This is most definitely why we are taking so many upper classman recoevers in the portal. We also have Stockton and canion that will take snaps next year.

That’s a helluva good point!!
If NIL were TRULY NIL, guys would benefit from longevity and jersey sales and appearances and being fan favorites…

WR is easiest position on the field to replace… we will never miss eric or malik… good luck to them unless they play GT … if they do, then I hope they drop every ball and fumble every touch …. who cares… dead to me…

We already knew we were losing 4 guys tho before we ever got a portal commit. Lane, Abdul, Leo, Eric. We had to replace those guys.

I agree we’ll be OK. My issue is the fun of college football has always been to watch players develop and coaches piece the puzzle together over 4-5 years. The players being guys who sat in the same classrooms I did.

That all shot to pieces now. No fun.

Go get your money, guys. It’s there for the taking.
