The Georgia Tech Athletic Association is reportedly planning to retire its world-famous Ramblin' Wreck starting with the first home game of the 2025 season.

According to an unnamed insider, the university’s beloved mascot—a vintage 1930 Ford Model A Coupe—has come under scrutiny for no longer aligning with Georgia Tech’s forward-looking commitment to sustainability and innovation. “While it holds sentimental value, the Ramblin' Wreck’s reliance on fossil fuels conflicts with the institute's green initiatives and technological aspirations,” the source explained.

Efforts to retrofit the historic vehicle with a modern, environmentally-friendly powertrain were explored but ultimately abandoned due to exorbitant costs and concerns over preserving its historic authenticity.

As a result, discussions have shifted toward replacing the iconic Ramblin' Wreck with a more energy-efficient alternative. The leading contender? A sleek Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, representing a modern, eco-conscious symbol for Tech’s trailblazing spirit.

While the transition is expected to spark a mix of outrage and intrigue, sources indicate that Hyundai has agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to sponsor the change.

Fake news

Weird timing for this prank though. Who published this / is spreading this? Did you write this with ChatGPT?

Edit: I just saw the bull**** fake news article about HK transferring, I get the timing now

The thought of changing "yet another" Georgia Tech tradition came to my mind several week as ago too, but "Yetta Nuther", shown to be a staff writer of our beloved Georgia Tech student-published "Technique" beat me too it. It would be interesting to see that copy of the Technique to see if it was in the in the good humor section or on the front page.

I think this was yetta nuther true feeling of a clever Tech student who sees the traditions of Georgia Tech disappearing in the name of "progress and cultural change". As well, this article may have been a shot over the bow to test the waters of continued traditional change. Plus, if true, it would show the ignorance of the administration to put millions into building a new car shed for the Wreck.

Next, Buzz will be replaced by a robot in Duke Blue with an old gold nose and white ears.

Randy was business directory of the Technique as a student, graduating in 1983, per his LinkedIn. Thanks for posting this Randy. It may help inform the administration to slow down on removing Tech traditions.

I do think it would be cool thing to have some sort of “back to the future” event. We partner with Ford to create some sort of futuristic Wreck (I know Hyundai might not like it that much)

It's completely true. In fact it's my wife's brand new 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid that will be the new Wreck. It's being painted as we speak. 😁

(PS while I don't know Randy I did write for the Technique when I was a student - and we did just get a new Hyundai Tucson Hybrid)
