Sure. We'll see. Eventually Hall will be gone.

Key and Stoudmire show the potential of replacing underperformers.
I think you know this, but I’m wondering based on your replies. CFDH will still be the head coach. This job that Stricklin is rumored for is an off-field role in the program. It does put him high on the list for potential replacements when the time comes, but is a minor role for this next season.

Here is some fodder for discussion. Curious what folks think/assume ... or even better, maybe somebody KNOWS ... how the next 8 months will shape up for the baseball program. In 8 months (ish), the 2025 season will be in the books. In the meantime, we have a full fall and the season ahead of us.

Top of my mind is the head coaching situation. Coach Hall is entering the final year of his current contract. I assume the fact there is no renewal makes it pretty certain (greater than 80%), this will be Hall's final season at the helm. Anybody think differently?

Is it reasonable to assume CDH will (or already has) been given assurances he can name the next coach? I am not sure how this works... but it seems a coach who's been in place for over 30 years would be given a TON of power in that regard if he wants it. The Stricklin hire has still not been officially announced by GTAA and he doesn't seem to appear on their website anywhere. Kendall Rogers (D1 Baseball) reported this and I have no reason to believe he'd do so without pretty solid sourcing. All that to say, I believe Stricklin is coming to the program and it just adds a guy 'in' the program who has a resume with head coaching experience at the highest levels in D1.

So... when do folks believe there will begin to be some 'official' public information coming forward out of the program about the future? Will there be an announcement pre-season to provide CDH with a 'farewell tour' type of season? Or is that not his style? I could see that both ways. Or will there be no official announcement and no new contract?

I thought I read an interview with Stricken somewhere where he talked about how happy he was joining an excellent program like Tech and working for a Hall of Fame coach like Hall. Anyway, I agree this will be Hall's final year. I don't think Stricken was brought on to be his successor. I think that was just Hall helping out an old friend who wanted to get back into college baseball with the bonus of his recruiting contacts helping the team. I don't think it is Hall's style to go out with some splashy farewell tour. I can see Tech having a big on field celebration at the end of the year to thank him for his many years of service and then naming the field after him or something like that. As far as successors go I'm a bit torn. I can see us waiting to see who comes knocking for the job, but I can also see that there is a reason Ramsey has stayed here as long as he has and Hall could hand over the reigns to him.

Hall had better have no input on our next head coach.

Drew mentioned the pitching staff as the biggest surprise. Tech has a pitching staff?
At this point, I consider any pre-season positive comments about pitching coming from the team/staff... simply positive "vibes". I don't have a problem with it. They should be optimistic. However... I'll believe it when I see it.

So you don't want to be fooled for the 16th time?

I agree, let's see where we are when we are 3 weeks into ACC play. This year's OOC schedule is harder than last year's but that is a very low bar to exceed.
