I don't think position changes are unique to our offense. The number of running backs in it is somewhat unique, or at least rather rare today.
It seems that Johnson had fallow recruiting years for QB and Bback that more or less corresponded but now appears to be attracting both. Wonder if it is one of those cyclical things and if so, why. I kinda get the QB because it has to be the toughest option offense in the country to run and not a lot of high schools run that much from under center.Very odd that we didn't have anybody between senior and true freshman at Bback last season. That's two missed cycles in a row. If Leggett's a bust, it'll be three.
You wouldn't think the marquee runningback position in a run heavy offense on an offense heavy team would be that way.
edit: just looked it up, we only signed one Bback in '12 (Marcus Allen) and one in '13 (Custis), neither of whom panned out. I guess we can't afford to take only one a year, especially not two in two years.
I think one uniqueness is the "interchangeability" of the positions. There are often players who can be QB, BB, or AB (maybe even WR). There are players who can be AB's and WR's. There are some who can be BB's or AB's. In most offenses, that's not going to be the case. QB's are rarely going to other positions. WR's are rarely going to be RB's and vice versa.I don't think position changes are unique to our offense. The number of running backs in it is somewhat unique, or at least rather rare today.
Snoddy and Andrews were both recruited for other positions.
I know Andrews played QB in high-school, but did he ever actually take reps for us at QB? I can't remember.
