They start the week after conference championships. And those teams you mentioned will get byes in the first round.
16 is the answer, but 12 is a great start from the current format.I was for 8 teams but 12 seems like a bit much.
I really have no valid reason for wanting 8 over 12. I just think 8 sounded good lol16 is the answer, but 12 is a great start from the current format.

Disagreed on the gap - this should shrink it.I hate it. The dwags are going to make the playoffs every year if they expand it to 12 teams. In hindsight, expanding it to 4 teams was a bad idea, as it has only widened the gap between the haves and have-nots.
AKA, the teams not in the B1G or SEC.Here comes the butt hurt for the teams ranked #13-15 for how unfairly they’re being treated by being left out.

Not if they’re champs of their conference13-15 is typically where an undefeated or 1-loss team from a G6 type conference finishes each year. So they’ll continue to just barely get left out.
Not if they’re champs of their conference
For example, if this system was in place last year we would have had Coastal Carolina and Cincinnati in the playoffs over Oregon, which I personally love.Oh, I guess that’s what I get for not reading the rules. I thought it was only 6 conferences and then 6 at-large.
Outside of P5 is AAC, Sun Belt, Mid American, etc.
Thank you. You actually read the article. For example, if this system was in place last year we would have had Coastal Carolina and Cincinnati in the playoffs over Oregon, which I personally love.
I wouldn't have any concern for a team that is left out after a 12 team selection, if that selection seems to be fair. This selection method seems to be set up to get 11 P5 teams into the playoffs and then throw a bone to one G5 team. If the intent is to purposefully make it extremely difficult for a G5 team to get a chance, then there is no reason to go above 8. P5 champs, top G5 champ, and two at large. Here comes the butt hurt for the teams ranked #13-15 for how unfairly they’re being treated by being left out.
