Let me start by saying I know little to nothing about a 3-4 defense but I am curious to see where our current players fit. Here is what I see. Tell me what u think.

SDE - Branch/Glanton/Griffin
DT(NT) - Adams/KCH/Chimedza
WDE - Owens/Martin

Fringe OLB/DE - St Amour/Merriweather

ILB - Swilling / Alexander
ILB - Mitchell / Jackson/Dingle

OLB - Henderson/ Oliver / Curry

S - Gray / Johnson
S - Campbell / Carpenter

CB - Simmons / Swilling
CB - Askew/ Kerr /Bonds

Really interested to see who moves into OLB spots. IMO the most noticeable change in the new scheme, from a personnel standpoint. Will Mitchell, Swilling, and Alexander get to play together (3 returnees with the most experience)?

I was glad to hear Curry's name mentioned in the press conference the other day.

I won’t speculate on starters, I’ll just list the guys I think could get playing time and what position. Some guys I will post twice because I could see them at two different positions.

DT: Adam/Glanton/Cerge-Henderson
DE: Branch/Owens/Griffin/Dawson/Martin
ILB: Alexander/Swilling/Mitchell
OLB:Swilling/Gray/Henderson/Jalen Johnson/Curry/st amour/Merriweather/Oliver
S: Gray/Henderson/Campbell/Carpenter/Showell/Bonds/Oliver
CB:Simmons, Kerr, Askew, Swilling, King

I think incoming freshman Dingle, Jackson and TK(if healthy) could also see playing time.

IMO this will be one of the most exciting off seasons for the D since I’ve been following GT football.

Merriweather is a redshirt senior that has only played a few snaps in the 4 years he has been here. He is not likely to emerge as a solid contributor in his last season. I hope I am wrong but I think Tyler, who I am sure is a fine young man, just did not measure up for what we recruited him for.

Go Jackets!

Sure hope

1. the new dc rotates more players. Could be we have a pass rush or run stuff specialist in tyler. I like how he hustles .
2 . we get rid of the 7 count defense. We count to 7 be for anyone is" near" the qb. I would love to see occasionally run the double 3 count defense ( 2 guys hit tthe qb on co unt of 3)!

I hope this system allows us to put best 11 on the field. My totally uninformed take...

Branch//Glanton//St. Amour
Swilling//Mitchell//Alexander//Henderson
Kerr//Johnson//Gray//Simmons

Would love if Adams, Owens and Griffin took significant snaps. I expect KCH will be in the rotation as well.

Also, I wonder if Jaquon Henderson can play SS. His tape was my favorite of last year's class.

Dl
Branch, adams, glanton
W lots of players rotating in for fresh legs.
Close to line

Olb close to the line will be swilling.
I think swilling will be given an attacking roll and will blitz more than all the others.
Mlb will be vic or brant - center field
.
The cb play man a lot and will be in tight coverage - simmons and kerr plus others.

Then we will play 4 safeties -1 or more either close up on line for threat of blitz
And 2 in cover 2.

No more we get in our postions after oline gets to line and just stand in same place. Lots of movement.

Gray will be a wild card with liberty to crash plays.

Serious question, why do you say Swilling at CB? Have you heard anything? I only ask because he had 2 other guys besides Kerr that were ahead of him last year that are on the team. Also what do you see in Cerge-Henderson to play at DE.

If Lamont is in the 2 deep our CBs are struggling...he’s a good player, but if we don’t have better I’ll be worried. I expect Bonds, Askew, and Swilling to push for that number 2 spot.
