I wonder if the academic rigors at GT are a factor for some of the outgoing transfers. Romelo Height was a starter and likely would be again next year.
I don’t think academics any impact on athletics anymore. When is the last time you heard of a player being ineligible due to academics? GT is looking at possible transfers from West Georgia, FIU, Jackson State, etc.

They do still have an impact but probably not the way you mean. Kids do still leave because they either can’t or don’t want to deal with the fact that many professors at GT and many students don’t just pass them. I know for a fact that a couple of the players that transferred last December fit into that category. I won’t tell the whole story because it’s long and boring and there wasn’t any cheating or anything against the rules and those guys were not bad or dumb guys. They just didn’t want to put in the level of effort in class. They transferred out.

I suspect this is ONE of the reasons guys transfer out. It's tough to balance school , practice, and travel. Especially if poorly prepared for a rigorous education. It takes time management and dedication. Some may not want that and can go play elsewhere where it is not as rigorous while getting paid.

Absolutely.
Still measured and teams can still be penalized if the APR is not high enough.
It's also used to determine which 5-7 teams get to go to bowl games if not enough teams qualify.

I suspect it is largely being gamed at this point though.
Yeah, when I look at uga’s recent track record, APR looks like little more than a recommended suggestion at best.

In regards to the NCAA and it's list of rules, it seems like years ago some schools decided that they were in fact suggestions or recommendations to be followed if and when convenient and ignored otherwise. In a wistfully nostalgic sort of way that harkens back to an earlier time, other schools fell into the trap of thinking that the NCAA was in fact a legitimate organization and that the rules actually had to be followed. Imagine that if you will.
