Player Attrition Under CPJ

Here's something I did month ago.

We had 74 commits for the four years ending 2014. Many teams are in the 90's. We'll probably be in the mid 80's next year. You can see how many teams used to sign more than they do now, but the average for all teams (at the bottom) has stayed about the same.

I had to take off the most notorious over signers, Navy at 234

Let's spin this into good news. We're on our way to being Alabama on Saturdays... Regular turnover should let us sign more.

A Academic, probably overlap with personal
D Discipline - scholarship terminated for violation of team rules
P Personal - wanted to play somewhere else or stop playing
I Injured and could no longer continue to play CFB

Bailey and Williams should be switched, Bailey was more personal/injury and Williams was more discipline. Not that it changes the numbers obviously, just for clarification purposes. Also is Custis really only the academic casualty? That's pretty crazy.

Navy doesn't have signing limits. I think all the academies are exceptions to the NCAA signing limits. Something about their committing including serving in the military after they graduate is the reason I believe.

I think it's simply that everyone admitted is schollied.

This. Every single student at a Service Academy gets the same full ride scholarship.

Thanks all. Tonight I plan to go through the 14 (or however many are left) which are still undetermined.

Academics can be a hard one since grades are personal information. I'll probably end up making it a PA category - Personal & Academics. But unless people can come up with more, there are only two academics (Custis and Atkins). That will result in a very low % of all the scholarship players.

BTW, Navy over signing was a joke (obviously a bad one).

Pretty crazy considering those two team right ahead of us are each currently penalized 10 scholarships per year.

The son of a friend of mine signed with Air Force. He got a full scholarship, plus will be paid at the end of each year. But my friend said freshmen do not play their first year and are automatically redshirted. FWIW...if anything.

I dont really see a trend. Not a lot of data points either. Losing 13 last year could easily just be normal variability. Cant say either way.

My money is on more of 4 to 7 for next year.

Freshmen can play at the Academies and there is no redshirting as the Academies require all students to complete their degrees in 4 years.

I am perfectly ok with 4-7 per year. It allows the school to look beyond their official numbers and typically gets rid of the disgruntled.
