Nebraska is having a hard time finding a coach because they fire successful coaches. Solich was fired after a 9 win season and two years after a NCG appearance. Pelini was fired after a 9 win season and he never won fewer than 9 games. Coaches don't want to go to a program that sets insane expectations like that. There are maybe 3 schools at most in the country that can act like 9 wins is a bad season deserving of being fired and Nebraska isn't in that conversation. They finally got humbled and have probably lowered their expectations, but coaches know they already built their reputation and now have to live with it. They should be a warning to all other schools who want to go around firing successful coaches just because they don't win a national title.
