I could be wrong, but I think
Tulane
Virginia Tech
Miami
NC ST
Pitt
Virginia
Clemson
uga
all had new QB's, and we went 8-0

and
Duke
UNC
FSU
and MSST
all returned QB's, and we went 1-3.

Don't know about GSU.

Duke-turnovers
UNC-defense
FSU-Our offense missed assignments during 2nd half and we were missing Smelter.

You have an interesting stat but I think the above reasons were more indicative of why we lost those games. The UNC game is the one you could use your argument for.
Also, it's not like all those teams had freshman QB's. A few did but some were also 4th and 5th year guys.

Well, our first year starter had already logged significant minutes as a sub.

Notice the play at about 1:35 of this video. Have you seen that same move recently?

True. Couple things about that though. First did other teams qbs log significant minutes as subs last year?

If not why did ours and theirs not? Would you not say JT was still relatively inexperienced? I would.

I am not sure of the exact quote, but the Syracuse coach said it was not fair, referring to the run by Thomas where he juked the Syracuse safety. Not as dramatic as the Orange Bowl play, but very similar.

One thing I noticed about that film is that he doesn't loop out as much on the triple now as he did in '13.

Yup, and when he first staightened that out, did you notice none of the ABS could get outside quick enough to maintain good pitch relationship? It took about 3 games to get that fixed. It is a huge detail, in terms of importance. When he flattens that arc, everybody on the field, including us (ABs), has to be a step and a half quicker.

Timing is important in any offense, but the choreography in our backfield immediately after the snap is beautiful when it works.

I don't think it really means anything we didn't start playing well really untill after duke and unc and ugags qb played against us in the 2013 game

I assume the premise of the thread, and your regarding your "stats," is the won/loss record is more of a factor based on our defense, and the fact that the opposing teams had an experenced QB playing against leading to our losses, versus inexperienced QB's leading to our wins.

There is one fallacy to your position in my opinion. From November through the end of the 2014 campaign, Georgia Tech's Defense ranked 14th among Power 5 teams in Total QBR (31.7), 21st in rushing yards allowed per game (138.8), fourth in interceptions (9) and 11th in points allowed per game (22.3). They're also returning 8 starters from that defense along with several experienced backups and, hopefully, getting back a key starter, Jabari Hunt-Days, to step in for Green, who is the graduate from the defensive line, so in essence, the defense could be returning 9 starters back.

This means that as the season progressed (after the Duke and North Carolina losses), the Yellow Jacket Defense improved DRAMATICALLY and shouldn't be lumped into the same bucket as the first portion of the season. I also suggest that because of the improvement, and the fact that they're returning starters and depth, we should anticipate more of the improved defense next Fall than the one the "struggled" against experienced QB's.

I'm on the optimistic side of our defense (think they will be a plus for us this year), but I think the Clemson performance has to be taken with a bit of a grain of salt. It's not just the fact that they had to go to their backup QB, but more the way it happened. Senior QB goes into the year as the starter thinking he's gonna be the man, has a rough couple games and gets passed by the stud freshman. That guy goes down for a few games so he gets to start again knowing it's only for a couple games. I can very easily see how he could be feeling a bit demoralized in that situation and fall behind on his game prep, which is exactly how he looked when he came in. That being said, we very quickly realized he was no threat to hurt us and shut down the rest of their attack, so we definitely deserve some credit.

Two things need be made mention regarding Clemson. First, our Offense performed very well against their top-ranked Defense, and they've lost several key players from that squad. Second, Clemson lost their Offensive Coordinator and some key players as well, so it will be interesting to see how well they play next Fall, especially against some "seasoned" Defenses and an Offense that controls the clock.
