one guy?

If we were allowed to keep one guy who graduated off last year's squad, who would it be? I know hypotheticals suck, but so does talking about this season.

For me it's Shaq, hands down. All things on offense begin and end with the dive. If we have no dive, nothing works. Shaq was the dive for GT the last few years. Defenses had to commit the mike to defending it and therefore he couldn't flow to the outside at will.

You have to make defenses respect the dive. It'd be nice to have speed and size on the outside and speed and consistency at Aback, too, but this is priority #1 in my book.

Gotta be Shaq. I think I could run behind Shaq and score those TD's against UNC and Duke that we failed on earlier this year.

Shaq was a war daddy and a leader. I knew we'd miss him but damn.....had no idea how bad. Damn Pats need to play him more also.

Shamire has actually played well in Shaq's place. He may be our best OL this year when he's on the field. Maybe Shaq could have organized the OL better, but when you have 2-3 guys on every play not doing what they're supposed to, kinda tough for even Shaq to make up for it.

With 4 returning starters on OL, and the 5th guy one of the team's most physically gifted players...there's absolutely no reason our OL should be underperforming the way they have been.

Anyhow...back to the OP's question. I would take either Days or Laskey. Combine them with Marcus Marshall and we have a true thunder and lightening combination that the defense has to respect. I think Jeune has REALLY stepped up the past few games and he's making the defense respect him. Remember, CPJ has stated multiple times that last year's OL really wasn't as good as we're making it out to be. Last year's OL just had the benefit of 2 REALLY good BBs.

Smelter forces d to play more back and not as aggressive in turn helping ab and Ol. Not to mention his blocking

Big debate between him and shaq.

It's difficult to choose between Shaq and Smelter, but if I could choose only one it would be Smelter for reasons already given.

All I could think of was Shaq till I thought of all the a-back injuries we have had. If the a-back injuries are a given, maybe having another experienced a-back like Perkins would be more valuable.
