Attack vertically. Hopefully Graham is back soon or we will struggle to win another game. Keep Tobias in a slot role and get him the ball frequently. Pound Mason to setup vertical passing for Graham. Get Camp and Mason involved regularly by feeding them.

It seems so simple to me, I’m sure it’s not. But I have no idea what DP is even attempting to do. I’ve never seen anything like it tbh.

We appear to be pulling plays out of a hat.

If we are truly a players offensive scheme, we should be running some form of a read option. We have plenty of slot type receivers (backs) that can be used to pitch to.

Our QB's need to be asked to throw short, high percentage throws. Now and bubble screens.
1 step drop throws (3steps under center)
Sprint out!

We need to pick a QB and develop him or it will not get any better.

Our Coach appears to be unwilling to make a decision in fear of hurting someone's feelings.

There’s no rhyme or reason to what is being done on the field. We aren’t playing to any of our strengths/positives (the few that we may have), and as soon as we do, we switch away.

But back on thread topic, I like all of your ideas.

First, Pick a QB
Second, The O line cant protect for more than 1.5 seconds so quick passes or single read RPO
-Roll outs, screens, with the occasional play action deep ball
Third, running game has to be quick hitting; no more handing the ball off six yards deep
-currently the back is standing still when he gets the ball meaning he has zero momentum when hitting the line
-we aren't using the opposition's aggressiveness against them...we need counters and quick traps and yes some option
-we currently dont have a true pocket passer or the oline to protect one if we did...so quit trying to run double and triple move routs

What should it be?

I’ll hang up and listen
From a high-level perspective, because no one has time to draft or read the thesis that could be written on our current offense, here are the basics:
  1. Play one QB, preferably JG or TO;
  2. Utilize screens or short passes to Brown, Carter, or even Davis to open up the middle - we saw some of this on the final drive of regulation then immediately reverted in OT;
  3. Jet sweeps to Brown similar to how WVU utilized the play against Clemson years ago;
  4. When running pass plays that take longer to develop, move the pocket and utilize your QBs mobility;
  5. Utilize Mason in the middle with single read option plays;
  6. Go fast to develop rhythm; stop with the unnecessary QB rotation in the middle of drives that slows the rhythm and disrupts timing;
  7. Understand that a QB and safety are different positions and one touches the ball more often than the other - a weird comparison that CGC made;
  8. No tinkering, if TO is running over the other team, don't stop to put in LJ and have him sit in a stagnant pocket;
  9. 3rd and less than a yard should be from under center with a lead blocker if you like;
  10. Utilize motion in the backfield beyond just having the TE slowly move from one side of the line to the other.

This should have been figured out in the spring, but it wasn’t and now we are in a mess.

Based on what we have now Graham runs the spread as best he can to get reps. Oliver runs the wildcat that is option/run based with an occasional pass. Simplify a set of plays for each of them and rep them.

From what I saw on Saturday,,, Quarterback play is the key,,, it doesn't appear that Oliver throws well, and LJ throws a ball that floats,,, we need a quality QB asap! I like TO, but as a running back. This year, TO may be our best choice, but not the answer.

It’s like we just spin a roulette wheel to pick a play right now. There’s nothing where one play sets up another play.

We don’t have an O line that can blocks long enough to let downfield stuff develop, so let’s incorporate some short play action.

Other than that I do think that RPO like Auburn runs feels like the best fit for us. We ran one of these plays against USF, but it’s been non existent otherwise.

Right now Tobias Oliver at QB use short to medium and screen passes maybe right now with our OL roll the QB out to pass. Put pressure on the CB's to pick cover the WR or come up and defend the run. I like Graham and the same plays would work for both him and Oliver.

6. Is interesting bc i thought our best rhythm all game was we picked up the pace in the 2 min drill
Going fast helps offense stay in rhythm and negatively affects the defense. I've been generally confused, because I thought the O was going to be fast-paced, but the timing between snaps has been erratic. Also, we don't seem to use motion indicators at all to help our QBs read a defense. Slowly moving a TE from one side of the line to the other doesn't do much in that regard.

We should be running the ball to setup play action. The spread option play has been working not sure why we don’t have a pass play that can be used off of that.
