The 1990 team's last game was against a Nebraska team that ran a very similar rushing attack to ours. The 1990 team shut it down. It'd do the same to the 2017 version too. We didn't throw it well enough in 2017 to beat the 1990 defense.

I think the 2014 Jackets would’ve made it a game but, in the end, the 1990 Jackets would’ve held them off. 1990 Jackets vs 1980 Mutts? Anyone?

1998 Georgia Tech vs 2014 Georgia Tech would be interesting. I matched them up on the Whatifsports website and the 2014 Georgia Tech team beat the 1998 Georgia Tech team 24-17. The 1998 Georgia Tech RB Joe Burns ran for 116 yards on 10 carries while the 2014 Georgia Tech RB Zack Laskey ran for 158 yards on 26 carries. Phillip Rogers ran for two touchdowns for the 1998 GT team while Syngyn Days and Charles Perkins ran for a touchdown and Darren Waller caught a 20 yard touchdown pass for the 2014 Georgia Tech team.

I got them off the Ramblin Wreck website but I cannot verify accuracy. Can you elaborate on this? Are they overstated? Understated? What makes you think so?
Yes, the "Ramblin Wreck" site is a copy of the reported weights. I knew they were playing games with the info((as many do), so I asked a friend on the coaching staff what some of the "playing weights" were. He stated that with Veryl Miller at center we had 3 300+ pounders on the OL which was unusual for that time. Jenkins was 300, Miller 310 and Mooney 340. I asked about the dl and he said Battle at 325 and McClary was at 290. To give some perspective, the typical OLs would average 285- 290. Also, Thomas Balkom was 220.

As much fun as the offense was, the defense in 1990 was stellar. Until Swilling got hurt in the Clemson game (returning a kick?), I don’t think the team gave up a touchdown? Is my memory right on this?

That Nebraska game was a true work of art. We rolled them.

I would have loved to see the 1990 GT team play the 1990 SEC Champions Tennessee team(1990 Tennessee finished the season 9-2-2)

What's scary to me is us talking about 1990 today. For today's students, that's akin to us talking about the Bobby Dodd teams in 1990 when we were in school, which was ancient history by the time I got onto campus in 1987. WOW! That makes me feel old.

True. I think what makes the topic interesting is that from the '60's to the '90's, I think the curve in player development/size/speed/etc was very steep. So the '90 team would have been vastly superior to teams 30 years before them. I think the curve is flattening a bit so that is why I am interested in comparing the '90 team to today's squad.
