Well, CBS still has a deal with SEC football even with the SEC network, so that part of the speculation isn't as far fetched as ncst board seemed to think.

Sorry man just saw an opportunity to hate on Richt. As far as ND becoming all in with the ACC, I think it's going to take more time. I honestly think it would take ND getting left out of the playoff specifically because they don't play a conference championship game. I'm just guessing though and I may be giving too much weight to the ND ego. I just think they still think they can get in the playoff without a CCG.

You're probably right, and I could see ND in the final four with NBC applying enormous pressure because that would be a great marketing tool. What the heck, they have been skating on reputation for years,maybe decades. Now I see that 2015, this year, this season, at last, this is the year. The lobbying already has started.

I see only two universities mentioned in this thread that greatly interest me as future members of the ACC and they are ND and PSU. UCF could be a nice geographical fit and I would not mind losing Louisville, but they are of minor interest to me.

I was not too happy to have ND even partially join. It's not as if the ACC isn't already tough enough in the big sports. But that ship has sailed.

Given that it has, I think the scenario in the csnbbs source made decent sense. I would rather have had Cinncy then Louisville anyway when the conference last expanded. This would be a quick way to get around the "ND problem".

Now, if only we can figure out a way to not play them for the marbles for awhile …

I saw that, but think zero chance.

Better chance to get UF (FSU / UM already ACC), or UK (BB vs Duke, unc, cuse, lville, GT in ATL, ND)

But if ACC went ECU, navy, uconn, cincy - plain stupid.

And people will crap their pants, but ugag should look at ACC .

Immediate BB upgrade. Minor & women's sports just as good.

I like the ND deal, but I hope the door is now slammed shut. If the conference gets any bigger, I think there will be more talk of playing more in-conference games. I like playing outside the conference, and I fear we would soon see the conference plus patsies formula that so many teams already use.

How do academics factor into ACC expansion? Or maybe a better question, how do you think academics should factor into ACC expansion?

Are we an academically elite conference? Can we call ourselves that when we already had FSU and Clemson in there? And, especially since we've seen fit to add in a school like Louisville? (I know an assertive individual can get a good education at these schools. I'm speaking more of reputation and academic rankings.)

Notre Dame would obviously be a great addition in both aspects. But, adding a UCF or ECU would be another step in the opposite direction. Historically the ACC has been a topnotch academic conference with UNC, Duke, UVA, GT carrying the torch. Wake is certainly no slouch in this regard; NCSt is pretty mediocre. Miami and BC probably fit well with the academic aspect. VT not so much, but not embarrassing either. Louisville is embarrassing and the complete opposite direction.

Personally I would love to add a Penn St or Northwestern as they would fit both aspects well. Not sure how realistic they are. I don't know the academic reputations of UConn or Cincy.

Agree completely. I have always said that if the ACC was going to add two more teams it should be Notre Dame and Penn State. I do not think it helps us to add anymore weak schools, either weak academically or weak athletically. If not Penn State then go for Texas.

Speaking of Louisville, I have some coastal property in eastern part of KY I would let go pretty cheap. Maybe swap for some coastal property in Indiana.

I went to a meeting held by our AD a few years ago...Notre Dame was brought up and he said that ND was coming in as a part member as of now but they would be in full time down the road...FWIW.
