Interesting hire. Mainly coached out west and in Big Sky country. Wake is a differently animal due to size and academics (like GT). On the surface it looks like a good hire, but there's a lot more variables to deal with at Wake than at WSU.

Well, stepping in behind Saban was not going to be the ideal situation for any Coach, but, from my observation, he is coming in at a time when Alabama has lost some speed off of their fastball. Like everybody else, they are going to be challenged to recruit and hold on to top talent. The depth, which was a real strength under Saban, is now being degraded by the Transfer Portal. Those guys who were second and third string at Bama but probable starters at most other Division 1 schools, will now go fishing for more money and not be content to stay and wait their turn. The transfer portal and NIL is, over time, going to become more of an equalizer than an advantage to the old-line football powerhouse programs. What most fans are discounting is the ability of all schools to generate money to support their efforts on the football field. Money in fact, will become the great equalizer to bring more parity college football. Georgia Tech has the where with all and the resources to fund the financial aspect of football as well as any other school, including Georgia, Ohio State or indeed Alabama. All it takes is a couple of generous alumni to open their bank accounts and make it happen.

So, I predict over the next several years, you will see more parity in the game than ever before. Eventually, the game will fall under some sort of regulation that will limit or cap how much you can pay players and coaches. It will be what it will be. I am enjoying watching the transition the game is going through. As a Tech fan, I feel that we will be in a good place in the coming years.
