Wish I could have been there. I missed my first game at BDS since the years under TFG, as I suffered a vertigo attack Thursday morning which knocked me out for 2 days.
OMG. I have the same affliction. I spent a day in the hospital once. Can't take any quick head motions, take bonine for any car trip, etc..I feel you.

I think he explained it well: Thursday night, cold, opponent, etc. He also picked up on the number of students just doing student stuff with no game-day apparel on.

That’s a big issue at Tech: the number of flat out nerds who attend - from all over the world - who never even thought about playing a sport and now couldn’t care less.
Weirdly, I have a love/hate with the nerd students you describe. I love that they know there are more important things in life than football. I hate how it impacts stadium attendance and future alumni support.

By comparison, I meet bright young people all the time who are preparing for college. Their number one choice most of the time for college is uga. When I ask why they always mention the football program. It always makes me a little sad. They’ll probably be fine but it feels like they are preparing for a fun college experience but not preparing for life.

And this is why I’m a Tech fan. Conflicted and as confusing as that experience is.

When my little girl was getting ready to apply for college she said going to a school with a football team was her #1 priority. I wondered why since she never attended a single high school game. She said she didn't think it was a serious college unless it had a football team. She picked Ga Southern over UNC Wilmington. Go figure. She got a good education and has a successful career so far. She attended one game at GSU (with her BF when he was president of the interfraternity council).

Student section still full though
I was about to make a similar comment about student support but you put it more succinctly. Can't remember which game it was but there was one where I think there were around 10k students in attendance. That's an awesome number considering the total enrollment on campus.

Edit to add: There are lots of nerds who like football. Some even post on this board.

100%

My daughter is one of those nerds who likes football (she doesn't post on any message boards, though). She has asked if we can go to the bowl game assuming it's doable. I'm like... are you kidding? Do you think there's any way in the world that a GT alum dad who loves his football team would say no to his GT student daughter who clearly loves her football team HAH HAH. Unless it is physically impossible for us to go we will be there wherever "there" is.

I'll guarantee you this is the main reason kids go to UGAg. Mostly, it is to continue to hang out with friends. They have a good time, too. Fall Saturdays are fun there.

Almost every bowl location has other fun things to do in the area. They should all be good trips

He does a good job of capturing the awe inspiring moment we've all had when you lay eyes on the skyline overlooking the East/South stands for the first time. He's very lucky his first game was a night game.
We need to invite him back for a Saturday night game against ND, VPI, or Clemson. Those games are always loud, raucous and generally fun to watch. And… our out of town fans can make it.
