I agree buddy. I believe we beat ND and VT if #44 and #10 were healthy. We gotta good football team just don’t have enough depth yet but it’s coming. Recruiting looks very good and we will keep getting better. Still some games to be played but we are 4th in the ACC right now. Team beat up the way it is and we are 7-4, I’ll take it lol

Rewatched some highlights of the game and I had two thoughts about the officiating. First thought was if this was the level of officiating in every game I would gladly take it. It’s been much worse for a lot of our games. The second thought came from noticing on repeated viewings just how much holding goes on in college ball. On one NCState score one of our defenders was practically tackled to the ground. But, like hand checking by receivers and defenders, when opposing linemen are locking arms with each other, it appears a lot of latitude is given.

Agree. Back in the day, most teams dreaded losing key starters, but that seems like almost a given with today’s faster, stronger, bigger players. Our last national championship team in 1990 got through an entire season without having key starters injured. Now you almost need to be like Alabama’s recent national champions where the 3rd string was almost as good as the first string. But, with NIL, teams may not be able to stockpile talent like that, and injuries will be a key factor in who challenges for a national title.

All teams have injuries, we are no different. We scored the winning points in the last 22 seconds in 3 of our 7 wins. We are not close to a 9 win team this season! 7 wins is very good.

Not sure about that. Not all teams have injuries to virtually all of their key starters. Please correct me if I am wrong but which top 10 teams in the country have had starting quarterbacks, running backs, receivers and linebackers all hobbled this season?

Yes, I believe we need more depth. Yes, I believe the better teams have it. Yes, I believe the team that started against FSU was a deeper, stronger team than the one we have now. Yes, I believe this team at full strength could have won 9 games. Yes, I’m still happy with the season.

All teams have injuries, but some are more critical than others. Look at the current CFP rankings. How many playoff-level teams would be there if their starting QBs were out for several games and unable to throw for others? Miami is a prime example, but many others would have dropped another game or two; some might be unranked.

The best thing that happened to us was them scoring on that big TD run with 1:30 to go. Philo is the real deal. Sloppy game, but a win is a win. Undefeated in the Dodd!

Like the 2010 ugag game. CPJ let them score to get the ball back. That was the only realistic chance we had to even have a chance to tie. Richt said in the interview, "they got us." Didn't win the game but CPJ was a tough smart cookie!

Looking at that kick from the vantage point of behind the kicker, I lost sight of the ball before it got to the field goal posts. I thought it was going to be good. Was it really off by only a foot? For once, the ghosts of Heisman, Alexander, and Dodd were blowing that ball to the left ever so slightly.

Seriously, I was thinking when he dropped the Easter egg grass that he might be over thinking it. What the wind is doing at the 50 yard line is different from what it’s doing at the 30 or in the end zone. The ball trajectory on a kick like that starts off low and by the time it rises to where the wind might be gusting you are starting to get sheltering from the stands.

But I might be overthinking this too.

It was a great effort and he could just as easily have made it as missed it.

I was having dejavu. Eerily similar to “the kick and the pick” scenario but just the regulation part. Luckily NCSU doesn’t have Butker.

As an aside, if Buttkicker had that kind of wind behind him it would’ve been good from 70!

I asked you to correct me, not charge bias.

King was hurt in FSU game as was Haynes. We know that now. FSU gave up on their season after their opening loss. Anything can happen in an opening game and I think both teams played amazingly well in that game with little carryover afterwards, especially for FSU. I’ve seen that happen in dozens of seasons to different teams over the years.

I can’t think of a single game other than FSU in which all of our starters have been at 100%. Sounds like you follow football more closely than I and I don’t follow nearly as closely as I did a few decades ago, so tell me about Texas. Did they have just the QB out or did they have multiple starters out or playing injured the way we have? Side note is that I credit CBK for keeping the full extent of our injuries under wraps for most of the season. Perhaps this was a courtesy of confidentiality to his players but it also meant teams have spent unnecessary amount of game film time preparing for the wrong things.
