I was there too - that was a HUGE play. Saturday night probably felt bigger if you were there because it was a home game (and turned into a crazy party).
It's really hard to pick one but I'll just say I'm glad we've had more than one to pick from!!!

Gamble is a RS JR but nice list of specifics that make that play so special.

I would rate Scisson's FG against UVA in 1990 as one of GT's most IMPORTANT plays.

Given the season we've had, the bowl game streak was definitely on the line on Austin's return for TD, but the magnitude of it doesn't match Scisson's FG.

Austin's return is definitely one of GT's most EXCITING plays, and it ranks up there with Roddy Jone's sideline defying run against UGA in Athens in 2009 for me...oh, and "the catch" by Calvin Johnson against Clemson.

Each will have a preference based upon what they have witnessed. Makes the "oldies" harder to remember an "get votes" even though they were important.
Most of the ones mentioned make up a what could easily be a top 5 or 10, each of which could be #1 based upon perspective.
ALL worthy of consideration and shouldn't be diminished.

Kicking the winner is all well and good -- Butker's big time kick against Georgia is the stuff of legend -- but for the best or most exciting play, no comparison. Austin's runback and all the attendant circumstances will be remembered and talked about, -- and in this day and age, replayed from all kinds of angles, endlessly -- when the kickers have all been forgotten, and I don't say that to diminish their accomplishments. One was an athletic accomplishment, consuming three-quarters of the football field, speed and vision, and at the end, lateral moves to avoid the last tacklers. One was a three-second play.

Agree, except for possibly the kick against UVA in 1990, the muff and the Calvin catch against Clemson, Wadkins one hander against Clemson, Don Toner's interception against Alabama when they were number one, and of course, the 53 yard kick against Georgia last year coupled with the interception by DJ. All of them and some others were great but the atmosphere at this one is what makes it so very special. National TV audience, on prime time, with a white out and an electric BDS crowd. Can't ask for more. Top ten opponent. Recruits in the crowd, the works.

It was electrifying to be sure. I was watching with a friend who is a Florida fan and he made an interesting comment midway through the third quarter: " I don't know how, but I think Tech is going to win this game" Are you sure? I asked "Yep, FSU has fallen into the trap of playing Tech's game. Sooner or later, these long possessions in the third quarter will take their toll and FSU will start making mistakes and get antsy" Sure enough, he was spot on.

"From what I saw we did all we could do to keep up in 60 min. I feel like if we had to go 5 extra min the game would change a bit. FSU is far deeper and the longer we play the more that impacts the final score."

I cast my vote for Austin's return as the most exciting Tech play I've witnessed because it was so improbable. I had a lot of thoughts going thru my head before the play but never imagined a walk off scenario. And it was 2 big plays rolled into 1.
