I wonder what the bullpen holds for tomorrow night if Amos has the nod. These are listed RHP that is available: Hughes, Chapman, Roedig, Lee, Gibson, Winborne, Brace, Carpenter, Friedman, and LHP: Shirah, Bartnicki, Barlow and if Mannelly isn't injured. That doesn't include the obvious starters, Curry, Thomas, Hurter and closer English. Where the hell has the rest of the bullpen been this year?

Well we are 13-7 with a 64 RPI. And we are 2-2 against teams with a 101-150 RPI (NW is 133 and Richmond is 120).

Mercer is 11-10 with a 145 RPI. 0-7 against top 50 teams and 3-3 against 51-100 teams.
  • Top 50 losses - got swept @FSU and lost one mid-week @ Ga Southern. Swept by Indiana State @ home.
  • Top 51-100 teams. Three wins all at home with 2 over Evansville and 1 over Binghamton.
If we are a "good" team, i.e. better than 64 RPI, we should win easily and get plenty of innings in for our pitchers.

I expect we'll win but make it too interesting.

Looking a bit ahead, after @Louisville, we play a few mid week games against the likes of Georgia and Auburn, but along the way the following 2 ACC series after @Louisville are both at home. First, against Notre Dame, who is a terrible 7-10 overall. And then against UNC, who is 16-5, but only 2-4 in conference play. They got swept by Clemson and went 2-1 against Miami at home. But the 16-5 is a bit deceptive to me, as they only beat Charleston Southern by 1 run, only beat NCA&T by 1 run, swept USF at home 3-2, 2-1, and 5-3, and beat UNC-Wilmington by 1 run. So yes, almost half of their wins have been squeakers. If we're going to do something this year, we've got to sweep ND at home and go 2-1 against UNC at home.

No Serratos this game. Interesting.

I have to say, my heart would be fine with a 16-8 win with 3 HRs for Kel Johnson.

Typical McCann: 1 for 2 with 1 RBI and on base 3 times LOL.

So Jackson Webb is playing 3rd? He has an error and is 0-2, so he is subbing for Serratos just fine. Sorry, I know that’s an a-hole to say that...just being silly.

Serratos is sick. Do you have another option?

I was just being silly about Serratos recent hitting and field percentage.

On a side note, if your name is Wilhite, you have 5 at-bats tonight. 5 hits, 6 RBIs, and 6 Runs. Through 6 innings.

Guldberg is now batting 0.522 on the season. And McCann is right behind him in order at 0.397 with a 1.000 SLG. LOL. Who wants to pitch against that?

I encourage more silly. Not less. I'm disappointed in myself for not noticing... at first... upon further review, I should have.

Tech is 6-0 in mid-week games. I know the "future" mid-week games are much more difficult. However, you can only play the games scheduled... and mid-week, we're perfect. FACT!

Those future highly ranked opponents (UGA and Auburn) will be playing their mid-week starters (not weekend) too. At this point (without looking up UGA/Auburn mid-week numbers)... I'll put Amos Willingham up against any "4th" starter on any staff. All that to say... if we succeed at these mid-week contests, we'll slowly see the wins and the RPI creep up. That will matter come NCAA selection time.

So... 7 losses. 2 v UCLA (no doubt elite); 2 @ Miami (maybe really good); 1 v Richmond, Northwestern, UVA. Should probably be only 4 or 5 losses; but we've won a couple really late too.

How bad (or good) is it right now? LOUISVILLE could prove to be the weekend that actually answers that question. One thing I'm certain of... the 2019 version of Tech baseball is the best we've had in many years. They have the roster and the ability to win any game anywhere. They need to start actually applying the boot to the throat of this schedule and not letting up. Call it confidence... call it "grit" (a term Coach Ramsey uses)... call it "the expectation." Whatever it takes... go to Louisville with purpose and WIN! ...if that happens 2019 is something to really get excited about.
