Baye & Duncan presser. Biggest thing for me is Duncan telling us how they all read the negative internet crap, but remain a family. We want kids to come, play hard and stay here. Bashing players, coaches & team can only negatively impact future success & recruiting. We, as fans, need to be a bit more careful in the way we express our own disappointment in losses. These kids and their families read what we post.

I RARELY bash the student athletes themselves. It's CDS who I've bashed at times via instagram. One time when I did he saw it and took it pretty well tbh. We still send DM's to each other, after yesterday I told him "nice win, hope the six day break helps the team heal up." He said "much needed"

Stoudamire easily could dump on our fans because of the shotty crowds and bad attitudes but I think he gets the frustration and understands what we've been through the last 10-15 years.

The thing that I like about Soaure is that the game is not too fast for him. He has limited skills but he is decisive and sees the floor. Loved his baseline drive and jam. And his weakside block.

He'll be fun to watch develop.

Powell starting to show fluidity to his game. His moves seem natural and not forced. Good players have that.
Reminds me of AJ Gueye…

Powell has been the biggest positive surprise for me this season.
In ACC games he is 3rd on the team in scoring at 12.8 ppg and second in rebounding a 5.6 rpg. Shooting splits 43/39/72. Leads the team in FTA and FTM.
3rd 20+ point game against ACC opponents.
yep, he's putting same numbers almost here in ACC as at SAC ST! crazy

I second the comments about effort and the defensive plays down the stretch.

I will add that we won without the bangup performance I was expecting/hoping for from McCollum - not a bad performance, but he left a lot of open shots on the floor that he normally makes. He hits a couple of open 3's/other shots and we make 75% of our free throws and we win going away

We also won with our lineup allowing VT to play a one man zone in the paint contesting drives. Powell's 3 pt shooting and our advantage in points off turnovers and fast breaks made up for it.

George moved the ball and we didn't see much pounding the ball looking for THE pass - just move it. And we didn't try to make Ndongo a post player - his touches were on the move and at the FT line.

This was huge for getting us into the ACC tournament (bottom 3 don't go this year). If we had had this level of energy from the start of the year that wouldn't be the issue it is now.
Just FYI. Teams that shoot 75% from the FY Line are Top Twenty FT teams in the NCAA.

Our Bigs are terrible FT shooters. Ndongo is around 60% and Souarre is around 25%.

McCollum is excellent at 88%. George is good at 78%.

The others are in the high 60s or low 70s.

There are 80 teams that 75% or higher from the line. The midpoint is 71.9%

We are the 6th ranked FT team nationally for those that have Tech in their name.

Overall, however, we are 310 out of 364.

For the hell of it I went and looked at ACC stats. We are last in the ACC by a good percentage. If we went to 75% we would be number eight between Wake Forest and North Carolina

I do agree we got a couple of bigs that simply can’t shoot free throws. Would love to work on that

Whoops. Thanks for the correction. Do you see the similarities?
Only from their builds....AD was a pretty decent ball handler and could put it on the floor.

I haven't really seen that from Souare. To me, he's more of a rim-runner and defense / rebounding asset.

I wonder if CDS has considered running the High-Low offense while Souare is in, for a change of offensive pace? He currently is not seen as a threat while standing in the corner on offense.

THIS.....Rebounding and FTs are the key to improving a team, regardless of "talent"... from bad to mediocre...mediocre to good....best big man FT shooter we ever had was Yvon Joseph...who NEVER missed inside last two minutes....LOL....
