This is helpful. Just to be clear about what I was delicately trying to intimate, CDS would probably resign rather than continue to run down his reputation as a competitor.
This is an interesting take. I would be fascinated to see how this would play out. For example, would this be done openly and transparently or would some “reason” be given for a parting of ways? Would he take full responsibility for “failing” or would he express some sort of poor fit between him and the environment or the system at the Institute?

I don’t know. Good question. Generally speaking, I don’t think Stodamire is an excuse maker. So it would be interesting. The related question is whether he would also want to continue a career in basketball in come capacity. That would also influence his choice of words.

He earned $100M as a player plus coaching gigs. This isn't about the money or incentives or anything like that. He also justifiably has pride in what he did and does. And from what I have seen he has an open door back to the NBA in a significant role any time he wants it. To my perception, he is at GT because he wanted a program to call his own and wanted to build it in the city of ATL. He may be stubborn as most good to great athletes are but I wouldn't be surprised to see him resign if and when he believes the situation isn't going to work for him or with him.

Damon has always taken the high road, and I agree 100% with @Northeast Stinger. Just my two cents, but if things keep trending the way they have this season, I think that outcome is very much in play.

As for how it would happen, I’d expect it to be handled quietly—probably a standard, carefully worded statement that doesn’t really move the needle in either direction.

And however it’s communicated, it’ll be done in a way that ensures a soft landing for him and sets him up well for whatever comes next.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. I watched our star player’s lackadaisical (or maybe hurt) play cost us at least 5 possessions on defense and 3 on offense in the first 5 minutes and I was ready to turn the game off. If he’s hurt, get him out. If he’s not…well, I’d bench him for sure.

It wasn’t just him either. He was just the most obvious.

I had the game on in the background...wasn't paying much attention to it. But one of the announcers clearly stated that several of our players (i'm not naming names) were playing with no energy and wondering if they were sick?

If I was a player and that was said about me, I would be afraid I might be confused with the college players who were arrested for game fixing today, one in an Atlanta D1 university.
