Anybody else headed up? This is going to be my first time in the region and I'm really excited. I get in Friday morning and am hoping to get to the Muhammad Ali Center, Churchill Downs, and the Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory. I'm not a bourbon connoisseur but am hoping to get in a tour and I hear the city has some great food. Seems like an amazing combo of Americana, sports, and a Yellow Jackets win ;)

If anybody went in 2018 to watch CPJ post 550 yards on them and has some recs, please share!

Driving down! Also went in 2018. Got some BBQ before the Game (will have to confirm the name but it was one of the "most popular" places), did not sufficiently research parking ahead of time (was a bit of a disaster/mess so planning ahead a little better this year), enjoyed us emptying out their stadium in record time as we crushed their hopes and dreams, then did Churchill Downs and the Louisville Slugger museum on Saturday. I'd recommend the full behind the scenes tour at Churchill Downs, I really enjoyed it and I'm not that into horse races. If you have a Quality or Mfg. Engineering background, don't expect them to know much more than very high level info on the Louisville slugger factory tour 🤷‍♀️

For anyone going to this game, are the GT seats in -01 & -02 sections?
GTAA says tickets will be going out within the next couple of days and I will report back on our visitor section - anticipating 101 and 102 though. I can't speak for Louisville's stadium but it's usually not too hard to sneak in and find an empty seat towards the top of the sections.

My wife and I are going up early Friday morning for the music festival. Busy weekend in Louisville, hotels are insanely expensive this weekend, so we're staying 20 minutes north. Doing brunch before the game Saturday then I'm hoping to watch some of the noon games and bar hop before getting to the stadium around 230 or so. I think we can win this game with a good performance. Go Jackets.

Was there for the beatdown in 2018. Really nice stadium with seatbacks.

There's a Holiday Inn in easy walking distance from the stadium.
One tip: If wifey brings even a small handbag, they won't let you bring it in. They'll charge $10 to keep it for you in a locker.

I'm getting hesitant to buy tickets from GT for away games. I got decent tickets for the bowl game last year. Maybe the 30 yard line, 10 rows up from the field. The tickets I received for the Syracuse game were upper deck in the corner. Now I'm sure that is what was allocated by Syracuse, but I wound up buying two tickets on about the 15 yard line on the Tech bench side, 8 rows up for about $65 each. There wasn't much of a clear Tech section, a lot of folks scattered around, but I think for most away games, I'll just buy online to get them at least closer to where I want them. And I'm fairly high up in the ranking points system, maybe in the 800s?, so not blaming Tech, just not the greatest seats. If we in the lower level with a bunch of Tech fans, may have been different.

Were your GTAA tickets in 312-315? Syracuse allots 111 and 112 (which are TINY sections) and 312, 313, 314, and 315 for away fans but I believe you pay the same price to GTAA and they place you. I'm not sure if placement is based on A-T points rank or just time-of-purchase. When I bought Clemson through GTAA, I ended up in TDT with Tech fans but we had a cluster in V or W behind the endzone too. But yeah, you generally overpay for terrible seats. It is genuinely a much better experience to sit amongst fellow Tech alumni from all over the country and host city though, plus the band if they travel. That said, I've bought non-GTAA seats at Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, and UCF and had no problems just migrating over to our sections. Basketball's away bench allotment, I think you need to be like a 5 figure-per-year donor to get. It annoys me a little bit that they typically leave these seats unused rather than give/sell them to traveling/host city alumni.

I will have to think long and hard about my Boulder plans next season because their visitor section is beyond the back of the endzone...it's a terrible design. If you get stuck in 101, it seems genuinely hard to see the game.

Yes, 314.

Seems like a lot of player’s parents were in the lower level, but not really all together.

Honestly, it was a great experience from that perspective. We met several player’s parents at halftime and after the game and enjoyed talking to them. Saw a bunch of them after the VMI game Saturday and got some pictures with my son and their players. They all really like Key and mentioned how he runs the locker room. One parent said that their son had found his home and loved it here. Glad I paid for the lower level tickets.

Some of the Syracuse fans reminded me of UGA fans. Particularly a fat, drunk, cussing idiot in front of us. At one point, his buddy pointed at my son and said, “make sure he stays in school so he doesn’t wind up like him.”

Tickets just arrived and it looks like it's indeed a 101/102/201/202 situation. If anyone is interested in a Swarm "tailgate", I'll probably bring a beer or two and sandwich for myself - I can bring some stuff for others if they are committing to joining as well - just post here or DM me. Still figuring out my parking situation but happy to pick a spot near the stadium and drop a pin when I've got that figured out.

Mitcher Distillery is across the street from the Louisville Slugger factory. Has a lot of history dating back to N Y origins in Revolutionary War. Angels Envy also in same area.

Got a ticket in 302 but looks like they recently released a bunch of additional tickets at the top of 202, so I may just happen to end up there instead during the game.

Additional research has led me to believe parking at the fairgrounds may be ideal, so I'm planning to park there, and wander through the tailgate parking lots on the way to the stadium.

The official parking situation is awful but it does sound like there are cash lots all around the stadium. I need to hop on I-65 postgame so I'm aiming for either that area or somewhere off Eastern Parkway near their campus.
