Who remembers WGST channel 17 on UHF. Sunday evenings would be the coaches show. If I can remember the order it was The Johnny Majors show, the Shug Jordan show, Vince Dooley, Bud Carson..Pepper Rogers, and last and best was the Bear Bryant show.. Brought to you by Coca Cola and Golden Flake potato chips.....That's a Bingo....When your down on the goal line and you're in the bone, you give the ball to Musso.

Leonard ( Leonard Postero) was my next door neighbor for several years. I had the privilege to see him write his radio show at this kitchen table on several Sunday mornings...Amazing! He was a football genius even though he was bulldog thru and thru... As good as his show was from an entertainment point of view, he has an unbelievable overall prediction rate of 80%. His show was aired over more than 500 radio stations in the U.S.
He would do a yearly speech for me at a local service club and give me a seriously hard time about the "Humble Bumbles" as he called the Yellow Jackets... A good neighbor and very interesting individual. I have a lot more stories but don't want to bore you. Thanks for the post and bringing back the great memories...

Gotta go way, way, way back for "Football Review", Sunday mornings. Furman Bisher, Jesse Outlar, Jim Minter, John Logue, Harry Mehre, Ed Danforth, et al. They would dissect the results of the previous day's games. Great stuff, real sports writers, the likes of which no longer exist.

Agree, that was real good show.
Mid day crew on 92.9FM, don't like the overall show as it's more about internet porn, pop culture then sports, but I like the segments they do with media representing major NCAA teams across the country, when they talk football.

I never liked Leonard. The reason didn't have anything to do with his predictions. I thought it was disrespectful to label the players, who were usually giving their all to win, as "losers". They weren't and aren't. Besides, I thought his attempts at wit were a huge and universal fail.

I'm not so sure it was that literal. In a day when everyone was picking a winner and the spread, he highlighted the other side by picking the loser. Frankly, I think it differentiated his show. There was no other one like it.

As for me, I can remember hearing his show on the radio. To this day, I think of the Pachyderms (Alabama), the Riflemen (Tennessee), the Plainsmen (Auburn), and the Canines (Athens College). They have tried to bring his show back a few times, but no one can deliver it like he did. Southern football, old style. Now, we have Paul Finebaum.

Furman and Jesse would grin and kid "Coach" Harry Mehre. He coached at UGA sometime in the 1930s. My dad and I thought it was funny that he played at Notre Dame during the time of the Four Horsemen but coached at Mississippi and UGA. He almost always picked Tech to win and would inevitably go into some long winded explanation that would have the others rolling their eyes but everyone respected Coach Mehre.

Yes, what we have now is Finebaum and his unlovable idiot callers. I wish we did have Leonard's losers back again. It was radio GOLD.

I was paired with Leonard in the Georgia State Amateur Golf Tournament at Athens Country Club back in the day. We shared a cart and he had me laughing at his quips and I had him laughing at my putts.

One of those gentlemen is my late father's 1st cousin. He wrote a column every week for the AJC as its Executive Editor. He was a great writer and still is a good story teller. Great guy for a Dawg.
