I would really hate to have a 3rd defensive coordinator in 3 years. Very hard for the defense to play well with that much change every year!

Does anyone know why he didn’t follow Elko to A&M? Because if Elko looked over him to hire his DC last year, I feel like there could be some bad blood there. But I have absolutely no idea and money talks so

This is a guy we need to do all we can to keep - If we can't match his $ market rate then all this talk by the administration is just lip service and we will not be a factor in college football going forward in my opinion if we can't keep coordinators more than a year..

I wondered the same thing. When we hired him, I believe there was some talk about Santucci not wanting to move to Texas? I can't seem to find any info, but I kinda remember something along those lines.

There is a story on the Hive that talks about how Elko grinds his assistants. Some left their families in place when they went to A&M. No idea if it is credible.

That might be what I was thinking of. I dunno. But I do know that we need to pony up whatever money it takes to keep Santucci. The turnaround that he oversaw with our defense was TREMENDOUS! We forget just how bad our D was the last few years...

I have no actual idea. However, I could see him wanting to break away from Elko as a career move. If he is the D coordinator under Elko for 10-15 years, will he get recognition for "his" defense or will he be considered a shill in place running Elko's defense? As I said, I have no actual information. I could see him wanting to make a name as Santucci instead of being a worker for Elko.
