Forensic, I know you’re a good tech man through and through, but you sound like a dawg fan. 😂 That is all. Feel free to defend yourself or rebut me, but I won’t be engaging in one of your back and forths.
Nope. I sound like a parent who has had kids who did stupid things. I sound like someone who has done stupid things himself. This isn't ANYTHING like what has been going on over at uga (racing, drunk driving, etc.), so to even begin to compare the two is farcical.

For real. If anyone is afraid of this, trust me, you got plenty of ammo to defend against your mutt brother-in-law.
Eggsactly. If a dwag tries to throw shade at me about this incident, my response will be, “Gosh! Just being within 30 miles of the (u)GA football epicenter for a brief period is enough to corrupt a football player. I wonder what the effect of extended exposure would be? Oh yeah, I remember: street-racing through downtown Athens and dead college students.”

I’m betting his Mom will dang sure get him straightened out!
She might even give Key a “talking to”!
Not that CBK is in anyway responsible for the kids actions but Mom wants the kid close to home and she wants him to get a GT education!

They (his parents) should take his car away, he has everything he needs (and more) on campus

Clearly it's the bye week and the defense needs fixing. I'm going to trust that the powers that be will address the situation with Josh in a proper manner and that he will learn from his mistake. Let's get back to fixing this defense...

This is pretty close to my house. This is a four lane hwy and a very rural part of Hwy 316 outside of Athens. Very easy place to drive 80 plus.
I know this area very well - people routinely fly through this stretch of 316. I'm not justifying him speeding like that - there's no reason for it. But it happens. He's 18, hopefully he learns to be better.

The bigger issue, IMO, is the drug stuff. 18 yr olds do stupid things, but getting into drugs is a huge red flag. He seemed so well spoken and seems like a genuinely nice kid. The fact that he hasn't been dismissed from the team tells me that there's a lot that we don't know about what happened, and that's exactly how it should be.

It's embarrassing for Petty and for GT. Hopefully he takes his lumps and learns from it. Gotta be better.

Obviously actions need to have consequences, but I'm finding it difficult to get too worked up over a little...Petty crime.

If you want to cut Petty over THC, do you also want to cut Joe Hamilton and Megatron?
I never gave my opinion on the situation :) - No, I would not cut any of them.

Some of yall either have not had any experiences with cops (God bless you) or you have since forgotten. I've had a few and I don't think that makes me a bad person.

Cops are going to write you up for everything that they can (and even things that they can't/shouldn't) most of the time. Especially when it comes to drugs and/or alcohol. Part of this is knowing that everything gets negotiated down, so if they include a bunch of "crap" charges there's more room to negotiate.

He's an 18 year old kid who is from Georgia who probably knows a bunch of folks who go to ugag and others who go there to party. It was a noon game for us and ugag had a prime time home game that night. He may play football, but he's still a college kid and college kids should get to experience college. He probably had the opportunity due to our schedule to get out to Athens and hang out with some friends and so he did what most normal kids would do and he took that opportunity.

He sped on 316. I myself have gotten tickets for that. I wasn't going that much over (fortunately), but I can't say I never have.

A THC vape pen is not a hard drug, nor even remotely close to anything of the sort. You can literally buy them in stores in the freaking state. Georgia just has antiquated and out of touch laws on that stuff.

He's a kid. Let him learn from this. Some of yall are acting like he got a DUI and/or hurt somebody.

I may agree with a bunch of what you say, DJ, but this part I don't.

i want this guy to get some grace. However, this young man is not just a college student - he's a millionaire businessman who represents GA Tech with his Name, Image, and License. GA Tech has every right to discipline him, suspend him, or cancel his contract and release him as they deem appropriate.

We cannot have it both ways. Either he's a young college student who plays football and learning life, or he's a young businessman who is under contract and thus under legal obligation to represent a world-renowned entity. He doesn't get to have the money of a responsible adult but then go act like a knucklehead teenager - like many of his friends may act.

This is prime example #1 why I think all this NIL is doing harm to a lot of these athletes.

I'm definitely not saying he shouldn't be disciplined. Only that some of the people in this thread are giving no grace and suggesting way too harsh of discipline imo.

I have complete faith in CBK to decide on an acceptable punishment.

None of us know the facts and so have no basis to suggest solutions. Both O’Leary and Saban were strict disciplinarians and so I have confidence that appropriate discipline will be handed out. He needs to learn fast that he’s bypassed his ability to do stupid teenage stuff.

LOL! If we threw a kid out of the program for a THC vape pen, we'd probably just need to close the doors. No kid would come to our program. We'd be laughed out of the gym. Almost all kids today toy around with this crap. Don't like it, but it's legal in 30 of the 50 states for recreational use, so the same as catching him with an empty keg. We are way out over our skis on this one. Everyone (and I'm just using your post as a jumping off point) needs to back the rhetoric down on this. Of all the bad things that could be done by our student athletes, this is pretty bottom level stuff. Let him suffer his consequences and move on. It is nothing akin to what is going on over in Athens.

Sometimes I really forget how old the average poster on this site is. At 56, I think I'm one of the youngest sometimes.

Has it been confirmed that in fact it was a THC vape pen?

I don’t think any of us really know. Can we just trust CBK and staff to administer the correct discipline?
It’d be nice to see some kind of press release or official court docketed document that confirms, yep, he had 7 THC vape pens hence the initial 7 felony counts but that’s all sorted out to misdemeanor. No hard drugs and he wasn’t under the influence. It’s the absence of any official info that leaves a gap that lends itself to speculation.
