Guess it just ticked me off a little. My former HS teammate and good friend is their starting center.
I hope not, but I bet it pissed him off, which is prob what coach wants.I bet that message didn’t hurt your friend’s feelings.
Imo what’s known doesn’t need to be said/heard. Let your team show up and do their thing don’t make it a movie scene.
These guys go to West Point. Pretty sure they've been told a lot worse than that. They also know the reality of the situation. I'm fairly confident that they won't be triggered by their coach repeating the obvious (which by the way is that they may be less talented, not that they aren't talented). Those guys are tough and smart and value teamwork above all else. Hence why Monken's theme is that the most talented players don't always win, but the best team usually does.
