I love my job and my company but if someone came to me with an offer somewhere else I would at LEAST listen. And if the offer was super competitive I would probably have a discussion with my company about it.

My guess is they reached out to Batt and he and his agent said sure I'll hear you out, which he would be dumb not to at least listen. Then he went to PAC and let him know about the discussion and likely is negotiating terms of his contract at Tech. As an employee not tied to the school he would be dumb not to at least entertain any offer that comes his way and take advantage of it to improve his current situation.

I worked as a headhunter for a number of years, and this is exactly the scenario I would envision.

As I said previously, if he goes the South Carolina it will be because he perceives that getting into the SEC now is better than taking a chance on the ACC's future. But his dream job is in Chapel Hill.

While South Carolina has spoken with/interviewed Batt, sources indicate to GamecockCentral.com that he is not at the top of the list in this process.

Adding it all up, he does not seem as likely at this point to be the guy in Columbia.

Quinlan hasn’t been right about GT in a long time.

Even if he stays, he’s now been established as a guy who plays footsie with a paycheck. Those things need to be kept confidential so that kind of damage is not done. Who leaked this? 10:1 it has ties to UGAg.

How has anything been established that J Batt plays footsie with a paycheck? I believe Quinlan said that Batt isn't interested. Another site just posted that USCe talked to Batt, but that he is not a top target.

I think the only thing that has been established is that people on internet forums get overly excited based on a single rumor from an anonymous person on Twitter. There hasn't even been a rumor that Batt is pushing Cabrera for a raise based on an offer from USCe, that is simply something that people on forums have invented.

It worse that he's at the bottom of their list USCe is not getting ANY of their top candidates. They will feed off the bottom because that's who they are. If Batt's at or near the bottom, he's a real target. Something tells me he's their #1 or #2 target so I think we're keeping him.

I don’t understand why people are upset this story came out the week of the Georgia game. Do yall really think the players give a flying **** who the AD is? Most of them probably don’t even know the guy’s name, and none of them care if he’s here or not.
