Is this targeting?

Per Chat GPT....

A reasonable estimate for ABC’s potential loss if the University of Georgia (UGA) didn't make the College Football Playoff might range between $10 million and $20 million. Here's how this is calculated:

1. Advertising Revenue Per Game:
Each College Football Playoff game generates significant ad revenue, often around $20 million to $30 million. If UGA's absence leads to a viewership drop of 10-20% (typical for losing a marquee team), ad rates and revenue could decline proportionally. This would amount to $2 million to $6 million per game for two semifinal games and the championship.

2. Additional Losses:

Merchandising and Sponsorship: Reduced fan engagement could mean lower merchandise sales and weaker sponsor activations tied to the event, potentially a $3 million to $5 million impact.

Ancillary Programming: Pre- and post-game shows, which also sell ad slots, would see lower revenues, possibly adding another $1 million to $2 million in losses.

3. Overall Impact:
Combining these, the total financial hit could be in the $10-$20 million range, depending on the extent of the viewership decline and associated revenues tied to UGA’s pa
rticipation.
Now multiply that times 2-3 with bama 3 losses. Tenn will not lose to vandy if its close. Mark it down. Vandy will be sacrificial. Etc. it stands to push 100 million losses if big shake ups happen this reason

U don’t think a conf or network would rig outcomes for that…..it’s rigged

Before I went to bed last night I checked my news feed and there was already an article in USA Today about fans all over the country wondering why this wasn’t targeting. If uga loses in the SEC championship I don’t think this “tainted” win over Tech should be the game that puts them in.

Did we ever confirm if the tipped ball called dpi could have been challenged ? I'm still confused on that rule

Can’t be challenged. They did it for 1 year in the nfl and the refs refused to overturn any PI calls/no calls so they wouldn’t look bad so the nfl scrapped it

The PI call itself can not be challenged. However, the ball being tipped is reviewable and that review can remove the penalty.

I never trusted that they would ever look at that obviously tipped pass as we all know what the outcome would've been.

I assumed they told us they couldn't look at it then sped the next play run, so they never got to the part of it that was indeed reviewable.

So when is the next home and home contract with them negotiated? We need to insist on ACC refs in Athens again instead of own conference refs at home.
Here’s the rat bastard responsible for our misery. He’ll probably sleep good at night knowing he was an integral part of his team’s win.

Could Key have requested a review of that play?

This is by design. Its all control. Refs now have an immediate radio in their ears under the guise of quick reviews. The reality is its all control; of outcomes, to make sure where the big money is keeps making money for that investment

Its not officiating is the worst it is. Its officiating is now more rigged than ever before.

Imagine sinking billions into something only to have a bunch of 3-4 loss SEC teams; only 3 viable big ten teams leaving the playoffs with 7 teams from less heralded conferences. Nfw. Its all control of the narrative

"All Plays in College" are reviewed at the time. Likely a quick review in the booth that determined the ball was not tipped. The one or two reviews they showed were not clear. The ball rotation did not seem to change. A longer review would have been nice though!

I’ve looked at rules again for both targeting and spear tackling and what we saw in the game had to be either one or the other. It could not be neither. I hate to cry over spilt milk but it would be easier to accept this loss if I did not know the refs threw the game to uga. When I say “threw” I am not suggesting intention or rigging, I’m just describing the actual end result of this egregious no call.

When I first played football, more years ago than I care to mention, they actually taught spear tackling as proper technique. The theory was that spear tackling accomplish several things at once. It saved you from injuring one of your arms if you were off center and the ball carrier put most of his impact on one arm. They believed it saved you from neck injury by aligning your neck, head, and spine in one line. It focused as much energy as possible through the top of your helmet and into the middle of the runner’s body. The tackle I reviewed on tape was textbook spearing, which is illegal. It also appeared, though this is not as conclusive, that he aimed at the neck area of the runner. This also makes it targeting if that is the case.

Yes, and he was out on the field making a tipped pass gesture to the officials but they didn't stop the play.

The professional thing for them to do would've been to briefly pause play to suss out what we wanted to review. But that would've been off-script.
