No it isn't. It's just not playing stupid.

The ball was at the 43 yard line with 45 seconds. If we mess up like running into the kicker, offsides, or the like that can very easily happen on a block attempt, they have the ball at mid field with plenty of time and momentum. Even if we get a hand on it or it's a bad punt. A 25 yard punt puts us 40 yards away from a FGA without a reliable kicker. Basically, even if things went our way we likely still don't have a chance to score, and if things go against us there's a decent chance at a back breaker right before half.

It would have just been a stupid risk to take. Especially since it's an 11 point game which is hardly out of reach.

There would have been 43 seconds with 2 time outs, with them punting

And no. There is no reason to believe we'd have been able to get points in ~35 seconds (after the punt) with the way the game had gone.
