HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

Anyone here read the email from J Batt this AM? Sure seemed to tease an announcement was imminent which I think given the way it was teased could only really mean a new HC hire (look for a very big announcement in the very near future)

If it is a coach, it has to be coach that's currently not working or taking a sabbatical doing college football announcing/consulting. The two big names that fit that description that come to mind are Tom Herman and Dan Mullen. I don't think any coach currently working in a coaching capacity (HC/DC/OC/etc) wants that announcement made during the season to avoid distractions.

Of course, he could also announce a capital raise campaign, or a HUGE donation from a generous donor. We'll see...

Why would we take a chance on coordinator with no head coaching experience who has never coached at Tech? This seems crazy to me considering there are plenty of very good head coaches currently available.

I agree. I suspect it something like a major donation to downsize the debt / fund capital projects or the creation of an NIL program that will enhance our ability to draw student athletes.

This coach would be worth a look too. Similar to Riley at TCU, imo.

Alum of his school and lots of recruiting in the south. Oregon coaches might as well be from Mars for local kids.

Dillingham coached at FSU Memphis and Auburn. He definitely has connections down here. Also was rated as the best recruiter in the conference while at Memphis so he knows how to recruit the south East.

We are not ugag. We also cannot pay top recruits to go there like he has done since he arrived

Just shows he has connections with high schools in the south east.

They knew how to stop it the first year. They weren't particularly good at stopping it at any point. Good defenses that play disciplined football can stop any offense. We will lose to those teams most of the time with any coach we hire. We simply don't get the level of talent needed to out athlete those defenses.

As I remember it, CPJs teams were routinely overmatched on the LOS. Clemson, UGA, Miami, etc were bigger, faster and stronger and we simply couldn't block them. Once teams began to really focus on assignment football against us, the superior athletes won out more often than not.

Outside of a few examples (Mason, Braun, and Braun) the OL rarely had the quality of of players that we had when CPJ took over the program and inherited players like Andrew Gardner, Cord Howard, Nick Claytor, and Sean Bedford.
