How confident are you in Chadwell, Clark, Houston being the top 3 options for Batt? Is it just speculation or based on inside info?
A mix of both. I’ve heard those 3 names the most and they fit EXACTLY what J batt and Georgia Tech are looking for.

If Clark is healthy I'd be really intrigued to see what he could do. No one else has literally resurrected a program from the dead quite like he has other than Bill Snyder, and I don't think Bill is available.

I think J batt has a #1 candidate he’s circled as his man. I’m not super sure who it is but I’ll try and guess based off what I’ve heard.
1: Jamey Chadwell
2: Bill Clark, pretty close to Chadwell
3. Mike Houston

Early Christmas for me if Chadwell is named our new HFC. The pieces are here for him to have early success.

You want to see teams like UGA and Clemson actually HATE playing us again because of the difficulty of defending our option run game AND our RPO passing game? Get Chadwell and GT will again be a headache to deal with.

That is great to hear. I have been worried we are going to just default to Key or go with some of these other ridiculous names like BOB. Sounds like Batt knows what he is doing

I keep hearing Chadwell would most likely bring his whole staff. I think his OC Willy Korn could stay back at CCU to be their new HC. Korn is who you really want to come with Chadwell. His defensive staff is the concern for me, I think you need to give him the money to hire a top notch defensive staff to mix well with his high powered offense. A key thing is P5 experience on his staff, only 2 of his staffers have P5 experience and that was being an analyst for a year or two. You typically want to surround a first time P5 HC with P5 experienced guys, especially when that HC has 0 P5 experience in any capacity which is what Chadwell is. I get him wanting to keep his guys he’s comfortable with and understand. There’s 2 sides of it that I see.

What Bill Clark did at UAB was a miracle. They literally tried to get rid of that program, and there were some very powerful people in the state of Alabama that wanted that program to shut down. What did Clark do? Go to 5 straight bowl games, and come in 1st 3 years straight from 2018-2020.

Read this:

Imagine if Clark got to work with an administration that is actually supportive and invests in his program?

Chadwell is easily #1 for me, but Bill Clark would do well here as well.

This is probably the single most important decision weighing on him and we don't knwo who is going to be available. Honestly our best bet would be something like Bill O'brien at HC, Dan Mullen at OC (alot less pressure doesn't have to be liked in the media) and then a DC thats a great recruiter.
We don't need retreads; we need a new innovative coach.

Clark would be fantastic. The guy can coach and what he did at UAB is a miracle. Everyone that has played/worked with him loves him. Give him a good staff and NIL and his ceiling could be unreal.

Just think about this stat: Before Clark came to UAB they had never won 8 games. He did that 4 out of the 6 years he was there (one of the years he did not was 6-3 due to covid). On top of that, they dropped the program and within a year of bringing it back, he won the conference (followed by another 2 straight division titles).
I went to grad school at UAB because I was working in B'ham and could get my Masters at night.. Let me tell about recruiting obstacles the Blazer coaches have to overcome.

OK. I'm finished. Over half the undergrad students had a HS GPA under 3.00. Nuff said.

Clark might be able to recruit at GT, but nothing at UAB prepared him for dealing with the GT Admissions Office. I am sure there are students at UAB who would be admitted to GT, but it would be a very small number.

No, a retread is someone that is basically had their wear and tear and now needs a new surface, such as a tire on a car.
None of those candidates fit that definition either lol all of them have won at the highest level at their respective schools. None of them are "worn down" or trending down.

Any insight into why Batt would be on board with Chadwell if the plan is to bring the entire staff? Seems like someone like Clark could be appealing because he could bring in anyone he wants and isnt tied to a staff currently.

Remember the saying, if it’s not broke then don’t fix it. That applies to this.

I met J Batt yesterday. Really nice guy and very unassuming. I was walking into an event and he was near us and I sort of gave him a nod and "how you doing" not realizing it was him and he introduced himself to our whole group. He spoke later and did break some news on the search. Despite mutual interest, Nick Saban will not be coming to Georgia Tech to be our next football coach. He got a nice laugh out of that one. Talked about the school, athletes, education, NIL, all the typical stuff, but did it well. Certainly comes off better than Todd did in the situation last year.

I wouldnt classify the Coastal defense as "broken" but it could definitely use some fixing lol. Currently ranked 94th in total defense and 75th in scoring defense.

thacker is a solid recruiter and i think since collins departure the defense looks pretty good.

i don’t know if we should or if we absolutely have to but i think it wouldn’t be an egregious error to keep him
I understand the meaning of your signature statement, but my statement would be some have already touched the grass (smoked the grass).

Not true; O'Brien and Mullen fit that description.
