The man deserves his own appreciation thread. Talk about leaving it all out on the field. 400+ yards of total offense, responsible for 5 TDs, playing in obvious pain. He is one of the toughest football players I’ve ever seen.

Someone should post a picture of his jersey after - he could’ve played for Notre Dame with how green it was.

His direction of the team and knowing how to get people into the right spot was so important last night. He was a true field general last night, demanding the best of people. In the second half we had to call a TO because we couldn’t get the formation right (on that 10 min drive?) and he was in Hawes’ face telling him what to do. Really hard to do in the face of that noise and in that environment.

Haynes King is the epitome of a Tech man, IMHO. Leads by example, fights to the end, does whatever it takes to get the job done.

Dunno where his nfl career will take him, but I imagine in 10-15 years regardless he’ll be one of top coaches in the country if not the NFL. Can’t teach that toughness mindset or growing up as a coaches son.

According to ESPN Research, King is the first player ever with at least 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns against an AP top-10 team. Ever.
Of all the dual-threat QBs we’ve seen through the years, that’s pretty incredible.

Sometimes I feel like he’s similar to Joe Hamilton in that he doesn’t fit the prototype of what people expect, he just gets it done.

Can't wait to watch this guy finish the season at a bowl game, play a great season next year, and show a lot of naysayers wrong about his NFL prospects. Dude knows ball and wants to win more than anyone else on the field every game.

Proud to having him leading our team.
Agreed, I think a healthy King has NFL potential - we didn't get to see that much this year, but he can clearly sling it like we saw last year and his decision making has improved tremendously this season.

GT fans, cherish the games you get to watch King play. We're watching a special player that doesn't come along often. What makes him even more special is how much all of this means to him.

I watched the game with some UGA buddies, and EVERY single one of them was absolutely in awe of him. "That kid is an absolute stud", "One tough SOB", "GD...I hate that guy", "UGA needs to write the biggest NIL check for that guy this offseason"...amongst others were repeated throughout the game. I've known some these guys since high school, and I've never heard them been this effusive in praise of any of our players....and we've had some REALLY good ones over the years. Kirby Smart himself kept bring up Haynes King whenever they put a mic in front of him.

It's unfortunate he had that late fumble, but GT is not in the position we were, and maybe not even close, without King. I know everyone is riding that Philo train at the moment (he'll be special one day as well), but every single one of our players/coaches/and probably some of fans will run through a brick wall for King. It's not just this game, it's been Hayne's entire career at GT. That kid literally puts this team on his back when he gets the chance, and I don't think he's thinking about his health when he takes those snaps.

For me, King's style embodies the GT ethos. Bust your @ss, be smart, be resilient, and do whatever it takes to succeed.

I hope to God he stays for next year. For anyone that is more tapped in then I am, is there any chance he is not here next year? I mean, I don’t see a reason why he would want to leave (other than money but I don’t think he’s that type of person), but the “tired of losing” quote piqued my interest.

Too bad he didn't score the 2 point conversion to win the game. Now that is what legends are made of. He played as well as any qb in the country for 3 1/2 quarters. Unfortunately he is human and was tired and beat up by the 4th quarter. Out 2 pt conversion calls weren't very good either. That needed some work.
