Just watched H. King press conference on YTube. He said things like he is 'probably' returning next year. I thought that was interesting that he did not say he was certainly returning. He spoke to how much he valued the relationships he has at GT (coaches, teammates, etc.) but he did NOT say he was definitely returning (in fact, he was careful to use 'probably' on two mentionings of his return. He said things like you can't be 100% about things like that these days but that you can't put a value (NIL $ ??) on what he values about GT, meaning he values GT greatly. He also said he is about 100% healthy...but he was careful here also . What is wrong with his shoulder anyway?

He also said he is not one to go back on his word. Honestly if King transferred I would lose hope in anyone staying going forward. Guy seems to love Ga. Tech and we gave him a shot when no one else did.

Not worried - I would be absolutely shocked if he isn't taking the first snap in Boulder next year barring injury keeping him off the field. And if not, we are in good hands with this coaching staff and will move on with the next capable play caller on the team..

The only way I could see him transferring is if someone offered him at least 2x-3x more than we can. I'm not saying if someone did that that he would jump at it. I'm just saying that I think it would take at least that.

Just watched the interview I had just read Twitter notes beforehand. He seemed shocked by the question and I don’t see if leaving for any amount of money.

I agree with the sentiment in you guys' replies....just thought he might indicate there was "no way" he would leave....guess he will not rule that possibility out 100%. What's wrong with his shoulder? Do we know?

Haynes King could win the Heisman next year if his shoulder is better and he stays healthy. The media love his savvy and fortitude.

We have spring practice to go through also, but I came away thinking there is something left yet maybe to be resolved, certainly I could be wrong.

And no one else would?
He was recruited by his TAM teamate Lane who came in portal. Then Chris Wienke, who recruited him to Tennessee reached out.
they heard Coach Key s vision and saw the Tech way. Imo, they never shopped around.

Key had him when he only talked about Championship NOW. Haynes wants a championship. I think thier is a bond between them.

He came when we had a terrible defense. It was terrible his first year. It was improved this year and at end they were good. (But what will we have in dl next year). This year the run game was mostly king.

The UGA game when was tough. He was hurt in unc and rehabilitated while playing. They let him pass down field instead of side ways and we are up 27-to 13 with 5 to go . Then the prevent defense 3 man line with soft coverage ldt them get up off mat. (That same defense is what we played in first half of Sycuse game) . The way we lost the lead hurt, but Haynes is Texas Tough.

Haynes dad will get together with haynes after he finshes coaching in tex high school playoffs. He only has 2 games to go. Iirc in last game longview w 2 d1 players schemed up a way for rb to get 300yds against desoto w 10 d1 players 50-14. Longview which is in deep east texas is 2 games from another stste championship. They are now playing 2 passing teams from uppity weat of fort worth. Haynes grew up with a chip on his shoulder

Anyway as highly knowledgable football coaching types they will discuss things from all football angles as they lead to gt winning a championship.

Then they will talk to Key about what gt is doing about portal and grad losses in dl and especially in OL.

If thier plans for winning can be aligned and the come out with the attitude "its us agsinst the world" , Haynes will be solid.

After that meeting Haynes can say 100%.

I would expect the only way King doesnt return is if Key/Weinke/Faulkner were to leave or if he gets hurt permanently in practice between now and then.
What if he has off season surgery and it doesn't heal in time? Pure speculation since no one really knows what the injury is/was. He may also be waiting to see if he has a shot at getting drafted. We are so fortunate to have him play at GT. I hope he comes back better than ever next year.

He also said in the interview he’s 100%

Another possible scenario that could trigger a transfer would be if Ga Tech "surprised" him (and all of us) by picking up a transfer QB who clearly would be in line to start over him. This loyalty & commitment & love stuff works both ways.
