Seriously though. That game was one of the best sports experiences of my lifetime. It was just so gut wrencing and intense. I wanted it so badly for the kids. The season has been so rough on everybody. I rank that one right up their in my memory with USA (hockey) vs USSR 1980, GT vs UGA 2014, the Red Sox winning 4 straight after being down 0-3 against the Yankees in 2004 ALCS, and GT vs UVA in 1990.

That is all I could think about. I felt so bad for seniors like Gostsis after seeing their hearts ripped out week after week on close losses and now at home losing to a 56 yarder from Pitt the week before and now the best kicker in the country was about to beat us the same way on Homecoming. I actually couldn't stand to watch the kick live so I let the dvr record and then slowly fast forwarded so I could shut the TV off quickly if the results were bad. With the fast forward going, I couldn't tell that "the block" occurred but then I saw us running down the sideline. I yelled, causing my wife to ask me what was wrong, and quickly rewound to see the whole thing (albeit a minute after it actually happened). Wish I could have been there.

Just curious, has anyone seen any video/reaction from FSU fans floating around? Always nice to see some fsu-flavored mutthurt.

It looked a lot like 2008 from what I saw. Hands on heads. Wide-eyed looks of disbelief that defeat was just yanked out of the jaws of victory. You can see stoic, motionless garnet shirts in seas of white jumping around in the TV shots of the stands.

After the long pause of open mouth silence most FSU fans were gracious and congratulatory...extremely well behaved.

Heard about that Bama game but didn't know much about the particulars, before my time. Gutsy win. Gotta give bear credit for going for 2. No overtime back then. A tie would have screwed up their natty hopes but he obviously knew he wouldn't get any more chances to score. Thanks for posting.

I like that reference to the Golden Tornado there at the end. By the 80's, it was only an historical reference. I was under the impression that it went out of use before WWII. Guess I was wrong.
