Because CPJ is retired and there is no reason to bring it up. It’s irrelevant to today’s situation.

Why because it's pointless. It's well documented the fan split on this topic. What good are you doing? Brent is the coach accept it or find Paul and pleasure him for as long as your heart desires. It's 2024 not 2014. Move on friend.

Hand injuries can be especially tricky and can take a really long time to heal completely. I fractured a metacarpal bone right behind the knuckle - simple fracture with no displacement, but it took about 3 months before my grip strength fully returned.

He took a beating in the ND game and never looked comfortable vs. VT. I hope the bye week gives both King and Pyron a chance to rest and heal up. Same for Jamal. A little down time to rest is very much needed at this point in the season.

I will bite on this topic.

I think at least two of our QBs would do well in the flex bone, and our slot receivers would be fantastic (they also probably wouldn’t have come here).

I think what Geep Wade is coaching the OL to do is the natural evolution of blocking for a spread scheme.

I’m a huge CPJ fan, and I think he was ready to retire. Rules changes hurt his offense hard. Army and Navy have adapted, but for easier schedules. I’m not sure how he’d do if you gifted him this roster in the Spring and no one transferred. 2010 CPJ would be a beast; 2025 CPJ may not have that stamina.

At the P4 level, I think a passing game is a necessity, with multiple targets (ie. like Tevin played it). I think that’s been what we’ve lacked this year.

It’s been said that Key would sell his grandma to win a football game. I think he’ll fix the problems. Maybe not in time to go bowling, though

The vitriol toward Paul and his genius are something to behold.

I agree with @slugboy that the rules changes would be very difficult for Paul's O philosophies, but I do believe he could adapt - I still think on the O side of the ball, there are very, very few smarter.

But, ultimately, we are where we are. As I said before, I like Key (he brought respect back to the flats), and maybe as stated by @slugboy, he would sell his grandma to win, but that isn't a credential or coaching ability. Most coaches that make it to HC are uber competitive. I think he will be limited in his abilities to be a HC. I think he struggled to coach up our OL recruits, even before he got this gig.

With that said, I am rooting for him to make me eat my words.

The irony is we'd be running the same type of RPO we are now if johnson was adapting things the only difference is a bit more gap blocking and some undercenter option/rocket mixed in.

Looking at the replay, the marker was originally placed in the right spot, but on the next play appears to have been moved back a yard for some strange reason. That makes three missed calls in the last two games that were turnover calls. Should have been Tech's ball. I usually figure the bad calls even out, but man, those mistakes can be game-changing. Why wasn't the coaching staff alert enough to call the refs attention to it?

VT could say they would have run a different play had they known they were a full yard short, which would probably be true. I just want to know how the marker got moved from the 24 to the 25. And I want to know how no one on the staff saw it and corrected the officials, especially the ones in the booth upstairs. I saw it on my TV in real time. I thought my eyes were deceiving me.

At 39:15 of the video, you can see at the extreme top of the video that the whole chain has been moved. The back of the chain is now at the 35 yard line.

The error occurred on VT's second touchdown drive when the score was 6-7. They were in field goal range and might have attempted one had they known it was 4th and 2 instead of 4th and 1. Regardless, getting either a stop there or allowing just a field goal would have likely changed our play-calling in the subsequent quarters.

Watching the video, the movement of the vertical marker (pole) occurred off-camera between 3rd and 4th down, but the arrow on the turf was still in the original position at the 24 before the start of the next play, and a member of the marker crew can be seen sliding it with his foot to line up with the pole. Someone on the ref crew had to know something was "off".

Edit: The marker moved between before the 3rd down.
