Haven't been to a game in athens in years, where is the best place to park?
So if you are coming from Metro Atlanta - I prefer going I85 / getting off the Jefferson exit. It is a nice 4 lane highway straight into Athens. As you get closer to campus , you will see several church parking lots on the left side of the road ( they charge about $20.) There will be several. It will be about a 20 minute walk through the Arches, ect. Just follow the crowd. Safe - plus it points you in the right direction to make a quick exit. Also, there is a McDonalds right off the Jefferson exit for a convenient bathroom break. Lots of fast food places to eat on the road into Athens, but if you get there early you might try the small restaurants in the city before you enter the campus area for the college atmosphere. They get pretty crowded so you need to get to these places before 5:00. I just think I85 -Jefferson is easier than 316.

Only thing that worries me that we basically scored 1 offensive TD with Philo taking 80% of the snaps . The Kid is promising but you’re gonna get the good freshman stuff and bad freshman stuff .
Bear Bryant infamously said that as far as he was concerned the only thing good about most freshmen is that they become sophomores. He and Saban were a lot alike in one important way, they hated not being in control of the game.

I have seen seven Tech victories in Athens. In every game ( except Paul's first year in 2008)- I thought we had the better team ( even though we were not favored except in 1990.) . In 2008 - we were really just learning how good Nesbit, Dwyer , Jones and Barnett were going to be. The Dawgs were preseason #1 that year with Stafford, Moreno and Massaquoi . This year reminds me of the feeling I had going into the 2008 game. I believe- we have really got something going and the Dawgs are not what they were hyped up to be. You watch Paul on the sidelines for that game - he was bringing it. We have to bring it- like we are better team. We've got to put it on em!! That's the winning recipe for Friday night.

I’d feel much better about our chances if Haynes King was healthy. I think our freshman will have some freshman mistakes against a really good defense. I do however think that the gap between and their team and ours is closing. Making these games fun to watch again.

Everyone is pre-blaming QB...how about the OL that got ZERO push against NC st ? What about the D who missed tackles in fourth quarter? What about the receivers who dropped at least 3 critical passes? I am more worried about that than the QBs...

I think those are concerns too. Let me start with saying, it isn’t the lack of talent from the QB. It is more the lack of experience and playing in a hostile environment against the best defense we have played all year that can cause bad decisions. Yes, Oline will need to be able to open holes for RB and keep the pocket protected. The receivers have to make those catches. We have seen the line do so in the past, which makes me believe they can do it again.

Go Jackets!!!

Whoever plays QB and whenever he plays, just do it. All are capable!

OL, tighten the jocks and win the blocks. Make holes early and often. You can do it!

RB, run with abandon. You’ll get yards if you do. No day for timid. Be bold and be beautiful!

WR, bust a gut to get that step, because balls are coming your way. Focus and catch it when it comes. Think explosion every down, but do your part!

D, you gotta be big. Stay fast and wrap up! No misses. Rather you give up 2 yards before the tackle squaring up than 20 yards after a miss. You can do this!

Just go and ball out! There is no pressure. Just play your absolute best. That’s all you can control. Just do it!

UGA has a balanced top 10ish defense. Our offense is good all around, but really leans on the run. UGA has a top 10 ish balanced offense, and we have a weak spot in our pass coverage.

We need to bring the game we brought against Miami, our better.

I am surprised with their top 10% offensive ranking. TBH, I have watched maybe 20 minutes of them this year so take the following with a grain of salt. What I notice is that they don't appear to have that superstar type, sure fire NFL skill level players that they have in the past - the Staffords, Gurleys, Bowers, Chubbs, Pickens, A.J. Green, etc. For those of you who watch a lot of college FB, am I wrong on this? Their QB looks like the kind of guy who will kill you if he has all day to throw with no pressure, but we have seen a half dozen or so like that already this year. Almost every team has that nowadays. Again, am I wrong on my impression of him and his teammates? I'll hang up and listen.

Carson Beck has quietly racked up nearly 3000 passing yards, and he slings it deep—sometimes to the other team. He gets sacked and intercepted a good bit (not our strong suit).

I think Trevor Etienne is a good RB; I think he’s out against us. Frazier is also good.

They did have bigger star players last year.

Some other views have UGA as more “mid”, but they had a strong schedule

If we just watched Bama and Ole Miss, we’d be justified in being optimistic. Maybe even UK.

But, they crushed Clemson, Auburn, Texas, and handled Tennessee. They usually score in the 30s. Bama out scored them, and Ole Miss’s defense throttled them.

We look to be an above average P4 team. They’re in the CFP conversation, unless we hammer them (and even then they’re still in)

I know he has missed some games lately so I hope this remains correct. They have quality backups, but like us they have had a rash of injuries in their RB room. The fact that they "recruited" their starting RB (Etienne) from UF may speak to their lack of superstars in that position going into the season.

Apparently UMass was able to run on them, at least through the first two quarters last Saturday. UMass OFEI is ranked #101 yet they produced over 350 yards of offense.

The mutt fans I've talked to say Beck is an interception machine , the receivers can't catch, the o-line blocking is terrible (16 sacks allowed this season vs 5 for Tech). I haven't heard much about their defense.

Yeah, I hear this too. My response is you’re so bad you’re 9-2 so far this season. UGAg is really good, not as dominant as recent years, but really good. We have our work cut out for us. It can be done, though.

Yeah, he kinda is an interception machine but he also scores.

There are about 115 FBS schools that would take UGA’s offensive line and receivers

Their defense is solid. Against Clemson, the defense kept squeezing the tigers until Clemson‘s defense wore out and UGA put up points.

Backfield of King, Philo ( one to each side) and Haynes in the center behind them. Snap to King on running plays. Snap to Philo on passing plays. On snaps to Philo, King and/or Haynes can swing out as running backs to catch short passes or as relief valves. (You are welcome, Buster!)
