Unfortunately NC St. learned from Miami. When King was in they really stacked the box. If King can't throw and keep them honest, it is really difficult to open up the run game. If that's the case, I think we have a better chance with the Philo.
Several times I counted 8 men in the box with man to man coverage. Serious lack of respect for King's passing which must be excruciating to throw given his shoulder. I am of the conviction that with his shoulder and the pain he is in it may be prudent to sit him down and go with the freshman. King's primary value in the run game is making really good reads and being able to slip and slide his way for good yardage against opponents that are not stacking the box. UGA will do precisely that and we will not be able to block them.

Only thing that worries me that we basically scored 1 offensive TD with Philo taking 80% of the snaps . The Kid is promising but you’re gonna get the good freshman stuff and bad freshman stuff .

I think the NC State defense was just what we needed from a coaching standpoint. What worked against Miami didn’t work as well when our opponent had more time to prep for it.
Hopefully, we learned from it and Buster will have some new wrinkles Friday.

1 passing TD and 1 rushing TD. He was responsible for half our points. Defense had 1 TD and we had 3 field goals.

What are you talking about?

Not his fault the defense forgot how to keep a spy on the qb.

Bottom line if we can run the ball effectively in this game and control clock we should have a decent chance to win
Maybe the best of all the good things about Haynes King is his instinctive ability fake and feint and keep the defense off balance in the running game. It makes the running game go.
His being less than a hundred percent really hurts us there. Defenses can key on the back and not worry as much about his keeping the ball.
I know it's supposedly his shoulder that's hurt, but that may be also affecting his running ability, or something is. Or so it seems to me. I could be wrong (no surprise there) and I hope I am.

GT had two offensive touchdowns. No passing TDs.

3 yard run by King. (Single play after INT return.)
18 yard run by Philo.

I think Philo’s performance was hampered by the fact he often came in after HK had been stuffed for little or no game on the first two downs.

"You know yeah when winning games you know that's why you play games if it's an opportunity to win but we don't, we don't talk about winning games we don't talk about anything other than playing the best of our ability every, every play one play at a time, you know I can't sit there and tell a team there's no scoreboard. Don't look at the scoreboard. We're not outcome-oriented. We're not and then sit up here and talk about winning football game. That's that's not the way we're wired. It's not the way this team's built. Um that's why we're able to have adversity hit and be able to continue to play through it. Uh it's all about playing the next play."

Agree with the philosophy but it’s hard to do.

They need to find themselves a stenographer who speaks southern.
I swear, I have never misunderstood a word the man says but I can’t make heads or tails out of it once they try to put a quotation in print

He didn’t pass for a td …. The defense was on the field forever and basically scored 14 points for us . That other TD was king running after the int back to the 5

Philo should take most of the snaps if King can’t throw med-deep, BUT

He is our leader and a much better runner and better on reads with the zone read. I wouldn’t be opposed to giving him random snaps here and there and also our red zone guy. Don’t need to throw over the D with 15 yards to the endzone. That also allows Weinke to talk to Philo in series, and keeps the hits down on Philo. Also maybe throw in a trick play or two if Georgia decides to keep 9 in the box

If Buster can draw something up that gets King to compete an intermediate pass downfield early in the game I think it will significantly open up possibilities later. TE pop pass for 10-15 yards could be huge.

If they’re gonna put 8 in the box and play man every time King comes in the game we’ll have to do something to make them respect a downfield threat. Even if it’s a trick play where somebody other than King makes the throw. We really haven’t seen many wrinkles in the playcalling this year, especially since King got gimped up. I’m hoping it’s because they’ve been saving them all for this game. Absolutely no reason to be conservative in this one.

My honest reflection of my feelings leading into COFH hate over the last several years.

2020 - Thank goodness we don’t play this game
2021 - Hopelessness
2022 - I felt confident we wouldn’t get embarrassed
2023 - I felt confident we could make the game competitive
2024 - I feel confident we have the potential to win
